Today we got up a little early for not having school or work and dropped the kids off at my brother's house so we could join 1500 other people hunting for the elusive egg. There was an adult egg hunt and it was a great 20 seconds. i got 3 eggs with gift certifcates where Joe got 3 eggs full of tootsie rolls. But if we had to work, we wouldn't of had the chance.
Then off to Target to buy the much needed Easter Bunny candy. Somehow our cart became full and off to the cell phone store we traveled. Because I'm a teacher I got some great discounts (or so our sales associate kept telling us over and over) and all I kept hearing was blah blah blah. At one point we had considered taking the kids with us, but i'm so glad we didn't because we were there for almost an hour...learning about our new phones and all the great discounts... again blah blah blah.
When we picked up the kids they had just finished dying eggs. I'm not sure who had more fun, the kids or the adults. And if we had to go to work, the adults in that group...would not get that luxary.
After we returned home we opted to work outside...even if it was in 30 degree temps and 22 mph winds. I raked up sticks that have been buried under snow for months, the kids got to ride their bikes, and Joe changed the oil in my van. Right before we finshed, I put some fake spring flowers in a pot so we could have some color around the house. I'm so tired of the yucky winter mess, so a little spring makes everyone feel better. Usually we would do these tasks on a saturday, so it was a blessing to have an extra day.)
After about an hour I took the kids to my sister's to spend the night. After I left, i got a phone call that Joy left part of her stuff at home, so back we return. i called my sister to tell her we would be running late and it was a good thing too, because apparently i woke her up. I dropped them off and then another phone call comes in...i didn't leave car seats and she wants to take them to a movie. How was I to know? Sometimes too many changes make one a little goofy.
After I left I spent some time driving around enjoying a make believe life. I had experienced happiness until reality slapped me in the face. The hurt returned, but the memory so alive i could almost touch it.
I met Joe and some of his co-workers at a bar in town and they played trivia while i tasted some appetizers. Eventually the smell of smoke was burning my nose, the appetizer was burning my tummy, and the exhaustion in my body was burning my eyes.
I sat down for a moment and watched a fairly decent movie...even if i started it in the middle. The changes in today's routines have been very good, but also very exhausting...
