| Cancer...not in my thoughts for today!

I woke up feeling just fine this morning but sometime during breakfast I got this sharp and intense pain in my side. It got so bad that it hurt even to walk. So I tried very hard to stand still. (not that easy when teaching preschool)
I have a very low tolerance for pain medication so I don't take it very often and I was ready to swallow the whole bottle if it would ease the pain. I decided to call my doctor and got an appointment about 2 hours later.
As that time progressed I found that the pain was moving from my front to my lower back and when I got to the doctor I was near tears even as I sat down. She asked me some interesting questions...are you pregnant? NO!!!!! Do you have your appendix? YES!!!! Are you nauseous? NO!!!!! Does this hurt? NO!!!! Does this hurt? YES!!!!!! Did you drive yourself? Um...no...Why? Which hospital do you prefer? Um...huh?
She started pressing on my front and I winced a little bit...I guess too much as she wanted to schedule the ultrasound AS SOON AS POSSIBLE? WHAT? I thought I was coming in for a pulled muscle...maybe a bladder infection? An ultrasound? What?
She didn't want me to sit at the hospital and wait so they scheduled me an appointment at 2 this afternoon. Dealing with trying to find a sub in the middle of the day was next to impossible and one that I could hardly deal with. All I knew was I wanted to find out what was going on.
So off to the hospital I went and my husband met me there. I guess he was just as nervous as I was. I had the ultrasound and was told that the left ovary looked just fine, but my right ovary was very large and inflamed and that at some point recently I had a cyst burst, mostly likely this morning, and that was the pain I was experiencing. She believes it was fairly large as it was collapsing (which is how she knew it burst) and that there is a lot of fluid around my ovary and around my uterus so that is the continued pain I'm experiencing.
i also had some blood work taken (including a pregnancy test...actually more to check the hormone levels but it's a pregnancy test) and a CBC as she was trying to rule out any things like a appendicitis.
All I know is that it's 4:00, my back hurts and all I can do at this point is wait for my body to reabsorb the extra fluid caused by the rupture...which from my understanding could take several days.
OH, and they also have to rule out ovarian cancer...did I mention that part?
So good to be a woman!
