| Hope everyone had a great weekend!

This weekend has been great for me! Since breaking my ankle, I've been pretty much house bound for 4 weeks now. After surgery and being released from the hospital, I was learning to use my walker and keeping my leg propped up as high as I could get it ! It kept the swelling down. Then, in week 2, I had my 1st post surgery doctor visit. He kinda blew my bubble when he said that it would be 6 months, best estimate before I "might" be able to go back to my career as an RN. That was a blow since I've always been one to bounce back quickly. But, I've never broken a bone before, much less a bone in 3 places.
But, before I sournd like I'm whining, the gist of this post is to say I'm celebrating !!! We went out this weekend to visit for a while with family. And, I got to go to WalMart for the first time in four weeks, LOL And, today, we went to visit more family. So, the celebration is about becoming stronger.
Everything we experience serves to make us wiser and stronger. Isn't it fun when you feel powerful! Especially when it the small steps of the journey that builds that sense of being able to do anything.
Hope your journey is a happy one.

I broke my ankle in 3 places almost 20 years ago. It does take a long time, but week by week it gets easier. The one thing I will advise is to have as much physio as possible. I didn't have nearly enough and so it took longer. My ankle still swells quite badly if I stand for too long or if the weather is hot, but all in all I'm so grateful that I hardly remember these days that it ever happened. Be good to yourself!

Well, I just figured out how to return a comment. On some things I'm a little slow.
Thanks to you both, overthehill and lostarm. I have good days and bad days. The worst part is the frustration since I've always been a very active person. Not one to sit for very long :} But, I've gotten a good start on the afgan I'm knitting. With the enforced inactivity, I might just actually finish a full sized afgan for a change. :)
Thanks so much,
jw
