I never really intended this to be a journal. But life is a journey...and a journey deserves a journel. I started "Rick Warren's" The Purpose Driven Life on the 11th. Its a forty day devotional journey. It's funny I have been a Christian since 1978 and finished seminary back in 1986 and have worked in a number of ministries as well as Pastoral staff, but every time I attempted a devotional study that was more that 30 days..I got side tracked and it remained unfinished. This study though seeks to an answer the most important question in your life. "What is your purpose?" It amazes me that an Atheist would be so adament about his position when its obvious conclusion is depressing. If I am just a result of random chance and not the intentional result of a creator God.. then life has absolutely no meaning at all. There would be no purpose or meaning or signifigance. There would be no right or wrong, no hope beyond the brief years here on earth. But knowing God's purpose in your life gives meaning to life. The greatest tragedy is not death....but life without purpose. Knowing your purpose simplifies your life. It defines what you do...and don't do. Your purpose becomes the standard you use to evaluate which activites are essential and which aren't. Knowing God's purpose gives you focus. Look around you. People are not focused. They are living lives of aimless distraction. Knowing your purpose motivates your life. People without purose..have no reason to get out of bed. And knowing my purpose prepares me for an eternity. Everything I have ever done..every award...every accolade...will be forgotten. Only those things in Christ will be forever. Without a purpose, life is motion without meaning, activity without direction and events without reason.
