What Is Up With The State Legislators?
We elect men and women to represent us as citizens of the state of Arkansas. We trust them to execute the offices to the best of their abilities and to serve us in good faith with no regard to their own personal interest or agendas. These men and women are to be the voices of the people in their respected communities and legislative districts.

Something has gone wrong. The voices of the people scream for change in the way the government has spent our taxes, the way we are taxed, the way corporate America has damaged our economy, health care cost, insurance rates, jobs, and so many other issues. We hear in public speeches that our representatives want to help us, but where are the actions that back up their words?

My issue is the “to be” proposed "Lifestyle Tax" on sugary sodas, beer and wine. We are told it is for health care funding. You taxed us on all tobacco already for Trauma Center. There are less tobacco users or they have started to buy cheaper brands, which in turn brings in less revenue. We believed you and stood back and let this tax pass. Now, we hear you still need to tax us even more for health care.

What is next to be taxed?
     When does it end?
Where is the tax dollars you already have from us really go?

Our Governor got elected on his "cut sales state tax on groceries" slogan, but we can see that was only words. Yes, he made a jester of a cut, but not since and probably never will go further. His excuse, probably something like, "Our state budget is below what was expected." What about the “surplus” we keep hearing you praise about? Is that a truth or a Lie?

Guess what Governor and Legislators...Almost All Arkansas' budget is below expected levels. When does the "robbing Peter to pay Paul" make sense? How can one get more "blood from a turnip" when it is dry?

Legislator might ask, “What is your solution?”

Ok, since you asked....Solve the Real Problem! Not tax Arkansans to "enable" the problem further. A few suggestions:

1. Fight High Medical Costs

2. Fight Outrageous Pharmaceutical Costs

3. Fight Unaffordable Insurance Rates

4. Fight Inexcusable Corporate Salaries and Incentives

5. Stop spending tax dollars on special interests projects. They can wait; the economy and Arkansans need it more!

6. Fly commercially instead of First Class on your business trips.

I know there are many more, but...use these few mentioned and help with our state’s health care system. No more Taxes!

I heard a legislator say we all may have to make some sacrifices in this economy. I say that would include legislators as well. Lead by example!

The only way the voice of the people of Arkansas can be heard is to speak up now!
Call your legislator, e-mail, call, post on their websites...unless you don't mind being taxed more and more. If you get no response, contact them 10 more times, a hundred times if needed. Just don't give up.

Always remember...we can make a difference come “election time”.

I believe there are a few up for re-election this coming November.
