 Daughters

Am I upset that I never had a daughter? Someone asked me that recently. It's a dumb question really. As if you have a choice in what you get. Anyway, how can I be upset when I look at my 4 sons ( 2 of them identical twins) faces and feel so much pride and joy at what I (we) created. I think I knew I would never have daughters.Even when I was pregnant with son #2, we waited till birth to find out the gender and I knew all along he was a he. It is different having sons I think-but I really wouldn't know. I don't think I will miss the drama that comes with girls. But I will miss girly things, like dolls, pretend make up things like that. Recently, a friend of mine took her 9 year old daughter and a friend to Libby Lu for make overs. How cool is that? Was I jealous? Not jealous really, just a bit envious-there is a difference. It seems like a big contest to have a girl, is it that rare? I see plenty of little girls around. When I was pregnant with the twins, people would say before knowing that I knew they were boys, "oh I hope you get at least one girl." Why???? Is there a prize that comes with having a girl? I would always respond, "no girl in there, just 2 boys." One person said, "oh well maybe next time." Next time??? Should I keep having kids to get a daughter? My aunt has 2 sons and even though she would've loved a girl, she is so happy and has an awesome relationship with both of them. Maybe you do feel like you missed out on something but can you truly be happy without having a daughter? Or what about if you only have daughters? My parents only had daughters, 3 of us. I know my mom didn't care but my Dad was desperate for a son. That was a well known fact. When I got pregnant with the twins, I thought for split second there might be 1 girl in there, but hearing they were identical, I knew they were boys. So we asked at our sonogram to know the genders and the sono tech said, "what do you have at home" so we said boys and she said, "oh sorry." WTF does that mean? I told her I already knew they were boys so just say it and lets move on. Some people actually said to me the fact that they are twins will make them special. If there was only one boy in there, what would of happened? I don't think people realize what they say. So these are my random thoughts so far today.

You go girl! I feel the same way! I love those boys - even though they r not girls. (hahaha). I too have 2 boys and u r my girl. Uncle and I feel so blessed to have our "girl". We luv you guys. Having boys is great - although a girl would be nice, but we get what we get for a reason.

I love you - Aunt Donna
