 Beauty From Pain
One song I like keeping in my MP4 player (I wish I could say iPod, but MP4 player would have to do considering I don't have an iPod) is "Beauty from Pain" by Superchick.

It reminds me of rising above even the deepest of hurts. I've been able to relate to the first two verses of the song several times already over the past year. It goes this way...

The lights go out all around me.
One last candle to keep out the night.
And then the darkness surrounds me.
I know I'm alive but I feel like I've died.

And all that's left is to expect that it's over.
My dreams fell like sand through the fists that I've made.
I try to keep warm, but I just grow colder.
I feel like I'm slipping away.

The lyrics describe so much pain, so much hopelessness. And right now, it makes me wonder how many people in this world have felt the depths of these emotions... broken, alone and hopeless.

I believe that I'm still young at 21, and I'm sure that there's far more coming from my fair share of troubles in life. I have only begun to live and there's a long journey to face, many struggles to overcome.

And every time I reach a point where I feel as if there's no point to moving on, times when I feel alone, bruised and broken, I listen to songs like Beauty from Pain to remind myself that someone had gone through things that I'm going through and that they were able to rise above the pain.

The chorus of the song goes this way...

After all this has passed, I still will remain.
After I've cried my last, there'll be beauty from pain.
Though it won't be today, someday I'll hope again.
And there'll be beauty from my pain.
The bridge goes this way...

Here I am, at the end of me,
Trying hold on to what I can't see
I forgot how to hope, this night's been so long.
I cling to Your promise - there will be a dawn.

Let's quote Harvey Dent on this one - "The night is darkest right before the dawn." - TDK

Anyway, I guess my point is that there's hope, even when we feel there isn't. Hope can be seen through those who have gone through pain and have been able to rise above their brokenness. There's hope for those who cry, for those who mourn. There's Hope for the hopeless.

I wish that there's something or someone that can remind those who hurt that there's hope. Maybe it's a song, a poem, a person... anything that will be able to help the hopeless find beauty from their pain.
