I have discussed faith more than any other topic since I began this blog. My faith has grown very much in the past few months. However, it is now being tested. At the same time I am enjoying my most peaceful time of year, I am faced with several challenges. I must find a new teaching job, as my temporary job expired. Also, we are forced to purchase a new mini van as ours is on its last days, and our bank account is on its last dollars.
I had faith that the new school I would be hired at would be our local one. I prayed about it and e-mailed the principal of that school even though no job was advertised. Then I received the call!! I was invited to an interview and it went well. However, it has been 5 days with no response. Faith tested again!
In the past I would let this get to me, and the worry disease would strike again. Am I worried now? Of course!! However, this time I refuse to let these or any other negative situations affect me. Instead of having an attitude of defeat, I am claiming victory. Instead of "losing again" and settling for 3rd best, I have full confidence that these obstacles will soon turn out to be blessings.
In a book I've read, it discusses "mentally draining" our worries several times during the day, especially right before falling asleep and shortly after waking up. We are to see the worries and negative ideas draining from our minds, and being replaced by thoughts of joy, faith, and victory. This activity changes our entire focus from the problem(s), to the positive outcomes we can receive from these obstacles.
It is ultimately God's victory and we are to leave it in His hands. However, I believe we can play our part by being faithful and obedient to what we are prompted to do. When the miracles from these obstacles do arrive, I will be sure to share them. |
