The pastor at my church is very good at providing relevant examples and analogies to go along with his excellent sermons. Today he used one of the best I've ever heard, and I wanted to share it with anyone reading this.
As many people do, I love roller coasters. It is a wild ride. Sometimes it is fun, sometimes it is scary. Sometimes we cruise on level ground, while sometimes we slowly and painfully take the uphill climb. Here's the key that my pastor focused on. At every stage of the roller coaster ride, even at the scariest times, we have full confidence regarding our safety and protection. The "master" of the ride has us strapped in and has full control of the ride.
Isn't life very much like that roller coaster? We have our ups and downs. At times we cruise easily and quickly, while at times things get very scary. However, as mentioned by pastor, we have a "master" that has us strapped in safely and has full control of this ride called life. Things get scary at times, but it will help us to remember that, as long as we look to Him, we can have full assurance that we are being taken care of, and protected.
During the roller coaster ride we laugh, scream and enjoy the thrills. It is very exhillerating!! Why not treat life the same way. Let us take the ups and downs of life with an exhillerating joy, knowing that God is with us for every turn, drop, or climb around the roller coaster ride of life. When we ride with Him it is always a thrill!!
