The comfort zone. If anyone on this earth needs one, it is me. I function best in that area of familiarity and routine. I have big goals regarding my career, family, and personal development and sphere of influence. However, I know that in order to accomplish many of those, I need to look beyond that routine and comfort zone. Lately I find that God is prompting me to do the same. So now what? Is it worth the risk to go outside of that comfort zone?
As I look further, the answer is an obvious YES! In our pastor's sermon today he preached about the calling of the desciples. They had fished all night and caught nothing. Jesus tells them to try again, even though they were unsuccessful. They obeyed and were blessed abundantly for following His lead. Then they had a choice. Stay in their comfort zone, or step out, leave everything familiar behind, and follow Jesus. They decided to leave the comfort zone, and experienced a life they could have never dreamed possible.
Another example is when Moses sent some men to see if/how they could overtake other men/armies to get to the promised land. Many said they could not, and that instead of taking the risk, they should just settle for what they have now. However, Joshua and Caleb were confident that, with God on their side, they could step out and win the battle for "the land of milk and honey" Joshua eventually had the honor of leading the people to that promised land, and the great blessings that came with it.
So this is the challenge God has presented to me, and I share this with my readers. Why not believe, that with the creator of the universe on our side, that we can follow his lead, step out of our comfort zones (as difficult as that is), and experience the abundant blessings he has for us if we would have the faith and desire to seek them. Please feel free to share where that takes you. I will do the same |
