 Filling the Bucket
I consider myself to be a positive person, one who always tries to see the good in every situation. I also do my best to "share the joy" and use my positive outlook to help brighten the lives of others. However, lately I feel as if I have been very self-absorbed as I try to adapt and make the best of my 60 hour work schedule.

The thing that has helped get back on track a bit is an old book. It's one I enjoyed a few years ago and pick up to read again on a regular basis. I felt the time was perfect to do it again. The book is called, "How Full is Your Bucket", by Tom Rath and Donald Clifton. It is an incredible book. The simple concept is this: every positive interaction with a person puts a drop in that person's bucket. Every negative interaction scoops a drop from that person's bucket. Basically, the more full ones bucket, the happier and more fulfilled they are. Another great concept is that, as we put drops in others' buckets, we also put drops in our own, thus filling our own buckets and being more happy and fulfilled.

What a simple, but extremely logical concept!! All we have to do is smile, appreciate, compliment, complete small acts of service, give just a little. In the end it all adds up. It is my goal (and I invite anyone else to join me on this journey) to make it a priority to fill buckets of those close to me, and complete strangers as well. Even though I would love to completely fill everyone's bucket, I know that is not logical. The way I see it, it is up to us to put a drop of water in the buckets. As we play our simple part, I believe God will do the rest to cause the buckets of others to overflow, resulting in happier lives for us and those around us. Wouldn't the world be a better place if we all lived by this simple philosophy? That is my prayer.

May be this message and the smiles I send with it begin to fill your bucket  :)   :)   :)
