I've read a lot about this anticipation word lately. I am realizing it is more than just a great Carly Simon song or theme to an old ketchup commercial.
I have read Joel Osteen's book, "Living Your Best Life Now" a couple of times already, and regularly refer to it, especially at the beginning of each year. In the book we are reminded to keep an attitude of "anticipating" and expecting great things from God. We ask, seek, and knock, but we don't stop there. When we pray we are not only to have faith, but also to wait in anticipation and expectation for the answer(s) God will provide.
I heard a great analogy from an excellent speaker named Kimberly Ann on World Harvest Radio. She related this anticipation theme to a sunrise. When we watch the sunrise, we look intently to the East, waiting for and anticipating the rising of the sun. Half the fun is the peacefulness at that time of day, and the knowledge that the the sun WILL rise, just like God WILL answer our prayer according to his will.
Those of us here in Buffalo experience many days where we don't see the sun rise and wonder if we ever will again :) There will be days where we don't see the work that God is doing in our lives and we wonder if we ever will. However, I am reminded that, as inevitable it is that the sun will rise whether we see it or not, it is inevitable that God will answer our prayers and work for our good, whether we see it or not. We just need to ask, have faith, and wait in positive anticipation for the for the great things he will provide. I pray for abundant blessings for all who read this. Have a great week!
