 Dark Matter
Scientific truth and religious truth can never contradict each other. There is no room for relativity in truth. It doesn’t matter who has the truth, when it was discovered or whether it has even been discovered. Something is either true or it is not. This is accepted in science but sometimes in religion we here that one mans truth can be different from another mans truth or what’s true for you may not be true for me. While we should always look for common ground and the things that would unite us in doing good, we should also take seriously our search for meaning, our purpose in life and spiritual truths at least as seriously as the scientist does. When all is said and done every truth must support every truth until it comes together like one jigsaw puzzle. If one peace is not truth it will not fit.

We are now starting to hear a lot about dark matter or matter that we can’t see.
NASA has said
“Remarkably, it turns out there is five times more material in clusters of galaxies than we would expect from the galaxies and hot gas we can see. Most of the stuff in clusters of galaxies is invisible and, since these are the largest structures in the Universe held together by gravity, scientists then conclude that most of the matter in the entire Universe is invisible. This invisible stuff is called 'dark matter'. There is currently much ongoing research by scientists attempting to discover exactly what this dark matter is, how much there is, and what effect it may have on the future of the Universe as a whole.”

Scientists don’t fully understand what dark matter is, but they do know that it is made of stuff and it is invisible. Is it possible that they could be talking about the same stuff that
Joseph Smith the Mormon Prophet referred to as spirit or what spirits is made of. See the following.

D&C 131: 7-8 Joseph Smith year 1843
7 There is no such thing as immaterial matter. All spirit is matter, but it is more fine or pure, and can only be discerned by purer eyes;
8 We cannot see it; but when our bodies are purified we shall see that it is all matter.

I think you'd enjoy some of my blogs we seem to be on a similar page, I'm not a Mormon but, I don't have anything against them.

James the concept of truth has no place in scientific discourse. The issue is one of accuracy, validity, reliability, falsabity, etc. Not truth, which when properly used contains a value judgement.

On the dark matter issue. The scientists who talk about this have no evidence that it exists. Shall I repeat that: no evidence! Where there is no evidence, there cannot be science. What has led them to infer the existence of this mysterious matter is that their observations do not fit with their theories. Therefore, they say there must be something, its just that we cannot detect. This is a behaviour that is well known to psychology and every mature reflexive adult: it is a defence mechanism. And what they are defending is their theories. The reason for the discord between their theories and the evidence is most likely that the theories are in some way inadequate.

Steve, when ever I talk about Scientific truth I am refering to truth, laws of nature, things as they really are. Not nessesarily as told by scientists. No matter what we say or who says it we can't change the truth. I havn't studied austronamy so I don't know much about the truth of Dark Matter, but I found it interesting that the dark matter seamed to suport the spiritual matter Joseph Smith was talking about which lead me to believe the common denominator of "scientific" truth and "religious" truth is Truth. Therefore a religon that claims to be true must be in harmony with all truth. What is truth?
