May 9 Dress Code
I enjoyed reading yesterday's blog about the qualities that you like in teachers. I hope each of you will take the time to express your appreciation to your teachers. I deleted a few of the comments because I felt they were either hurtful or not appropriate. When blogging in a public forum be sure to always keep your writing school appropriate. You represent this community, your parents, your school and most of all yourself. There are ways to express yourself within these standards.

You have a substitute today. I know you are probably sick of having substitutes in all your classes. Please be kind and respectful while I am away. You always make me look good and I appreciate that so much! Today I am away preparing for prom. If you are attending I hope you have a magical evening. I can't wait to see you all dolled-up.

Today's blog: Do schools need a dress code? How would eliminating the dress code effect your education? How does having a dress code effect your education? What would you change about the dress code? How would those changes benefit you?

I don't think this school needs a dress code. I don't know how eliminating this would help. Something I would change is the "Tuck In Shirts". These changes would benefit I guess many people, but really not sure.

I would change the rule about no flip flop and athletic shorts.
The flip flop rule would effect me but not the athletic short rule.

If we had no dress code, the students would be busy looking at other "things." I think petty things like tucking in boys shirts are dumb and should be eliminated from the dress code they could just put a certain length on aow long the shirts can be, other things are peircings, thats a dumb rule 2!!!

This dress code doesn't affect me because I usually wear what I want, but I wouldn't mind dying my hair purp.

No Schools don't need a dress code. Eliminating the dress code would let students be more relaxed and not get into trouble for the dress code.

I dont think the dress code will effect our education, they say its a distraction but i dont see how. I would change the dress code by letting the girls wear flip flops and shorts during the spring but they cannot show anything, I will also change where the guys dont have to tuck in there shirts. Also they can where earings and jewelery and all that. Cause at my old school it didnt really distract anybody what you wore. thats my opinion

I think there should be some kind of dress code just not a real strict one. If i could change anything about our dress code it would be that we dont tuck I shirts in.

I dont think this school needs a dress code. I think eliminating the dress code would be good for this school. Because most of the administrators in this school worry too much about us tucking our shirts in rather than our education

We should have some sort of dress code. But ours is rediculous. why cant we wear athletic shorts?? or flip flops? if you get distracted by that then youre pathetic.

There should be some kind of dress code but nothing like ours. I would change the tucking in t-shirts, flip flops, and a few other things.

I think schools need dress codes, but they don't need to be as strict as they are. As long as kids get their work done, I don't know why we shouldn't be able to wear what we want.

I think that the school needs some kind of dress code. Becuase girls could be dressing trashy and then guys would be paying more attention to the girls then to the teachers and there school work. And when you dont really have to worry about what you are going to wear then you have more time to study and do your school work.

Yes schools do need a dress code, but they should only be to make sure everything that should be covered up stays covered up. Some dress codes are way to crazy and are put into affect because one or two people think it is a good idea, but they should take in what the students think about the dress code. We have to come every day and it is not right that we have such little choices on what we get to wear. I would say that athletic shorts, flip flops, and things of that sort would be ok to wear. they are comfortable and when you are comfortable, you can concentrate more on learning and less on "omg i'm so uncomfortable."

Schools should have a dress code. I believe that a dress code should be enforced as long as it is not to extreme or harsh resulting in a riot by kids who feel that their rights are violated.

I think that there should be a dress code but sometimes they make them too outstanding. I think that you should be able to have whatever hair style that you want and that we should get to wear flip flops and that guys shouldn't have to tuck their shirts in.

Schools do need a dress code so that people aren't distracted by others. The dress code doesn't have to be so strict though. I think that we should be able to wear flip-flops because they would be much more comfortable for everybody.

I think we need a drees code...like no short short or swim suits tops. But guys shouldn't have to tuck in their shirts and wear a belt. I think thats stupid! I don't think how you dress affects your education people! I know people in college who wear flip flops and sweats and they are still doing good in school!!

A dress code is appropriate but going over board with it is just stupid. If your going to bring a gun to school your not going to let your shirt being tucked in stop you from doing it. What if a girl brings it. Girls dont have to tuck in their shirts. what about backpacks, you can fit bombs in backbacks and we dont have a dress code for them. Whenever I get in trouble for not tucking in my shirt and I go to class I don't want to do my work because im mad that i got do tha gay thang and tuck in my shirt! That negatively affects my grades and my education. A dress code does help things like short shorts and short dresses and shirts that are to small, but in some things are fine without changing them. A strict dress code makes me feel uncomfortable at school so I focus less on my work. If im comfortable then I feel fine and do my work.

I think a dress code should be enforced but they shouldn't be super strict about it. It will just make students hate school. But someone things like hoochie shorts should be eliminated but something as simple as flip-flops and athletic pants is fine. There is nothing wrong with that.

no way! schools do not need dress codes! they say that dress codes are for are protection an thats a load of bull. if somebody really wanted to do somethin i dont think it would matter what they were wearing. also the way people dress is how they express there induviduality. an if you had to come to school all dressed up an stuff it would be uncomfortable after a while
