I know we have talked about TEKS, the basic information that teachers must cover in each subject, but now it is TAKS time. Next week our school will administer the TAKS test to everyone except Seniors. What is your opinion about TAKS? Should we have standardized tests such as this? Is it a fair assessment of your ability and knowledge? |

I think it's okay to have TAKS tests because it shows how well you are in each subject.

I really don't care for TAKS. But I do beleive it is good for finding out what you know. I also don't like how they use it for seniors not to graduate if they don't pass.

I think we shouldnt have a taks test cause it test your knowledge of things you have learned throughout the year and some people may forget some things.
I think we should have a test after each objective.

I don't think we should take TAKS because you have to learn everything in a certain time and if there was no TAKS then you would learn everything at your own paste.

I guess that the TAKS tests are ok. They help you and let you know if you're ready to go to the next grade.

I think that its stupid because if we didnt need to go to the next class we would fail all the classes that we took then we cant go to the next grade. it shouldnt matter if we passed just a test or not.

I don't like TAKS, but it's easy so it doesn't really matter. Yes it is a fair assessment of our knowledge.

I DON'T THINK THAT WE SHOULD HAVE TAKS, I THINK THAT WE SHOULD JUST TAKE EXAMS AT THE END OF EVERY SIX WEEKS INSTEAD OF TAKING THE TAKS BECAUSE IF YOU DON'T PASS IT BEFORE YOU GRADAUTE THEN YOU DON'T GET TO GRADUATE AND THAT SUCKS BECAUSE I DIDN'T PASS JUST ONE OF THE TAKS TEST AND I WAS ONE QUESTION FROM PASSINGN IT WHICH REALLY SUCKS AND I AM ONE OF THE SENIORS WHO HAS TO RETAKE ONE OF THE TAKS TEST NEXT WEEK.

TAKS is the most unnessicary thing that the state has come up with. It is pointless and often make people do worse on test because of the pressure of having to pass. Then the teachers have to teach what the state tells them they have to and often do not have time to teach other things because they are reviewing the taks objectives. If it were up to me taks would be done away with!!!!!
