 Black Nail Polish.
Has anyone ever wondered why people jump to such outrageous conclusions? For example, if someone wears black nail polish, they are automatically labeled either "goth," "emo," or "punk."  Does that sound ridiculous to anyone besides me? What if you are girly and enjoy wearing black nail polish. Or preppy? What if you're a guy who likes wearing it, and you're on the high school football team? People think you're a freak. They dump you into a catagory, and don't give it another thought. Sometimes they whisper behind their hands to their "friends."  Dumb, eh? And what is "jock," anyway? What is "punk"? What is "emo," or "prep," or "geek"? To different people, they're different things. I don't believe in labels. True, I can't go into public without someone labeling me, and yes, sometimes I do find myself catagorizing people by their appearance, but I try not to. You can never know anyone just by looking at them. The hot, handsome football player could have a passion or cooking, or he might love going to see "The Nutcracker" every year. You don't know. He could be hiding it. That "emo" sitting at the library table might think football is the awesomest sport in the world. Or maybe he likes camping outdoors. Maybe he just likes wearing his hair that way, and enjoys dressing in black clothes. Maybe he thinks it's stupid to be called "emo" or "goth" just for that. Labels are dumb. I choose to refuse to label anyone. I wish everyone saw past skin color, social status, gender, all the flimsy outward appearance to the person within. Since this is impossible to do right off the bat, I wish everyone would take the time to get to know each other. I wish people didn't care about being "cool" or "hot."  Life is a temporary state. Don't you think worrying about what people think about you is a waste of time? Don't you think judging other people is a waste of time? Everyone should bring forth their passions and wear them proudly on their sleeves. I choose to do that. It's hard, yes, but I will try. You know, just a few minutes ago I did a Google search, and typed in "Online Journal."  I found thoughts.com within thirty seconds, and less then fifteen minutes later, here I am, typing down some of the thoughts I wish I could share with everyone. I can, too. It's just a little difficult. I don't even know why I'm writing this down here. I've got my new diary upstairs. I write in that every day. Perhaps I enjoy typing everything down because it's so much swifter. Blogging. Cute word, isn't it. Alas, the world is turning into technology. People are losing true contact and personal connections because of e-mail, IM, and the like. Sure, I use the internet. But I much prefer face-to-face interation, or, at the very least, fun, chatty phone calls. All right, I'm done spilling out my thoughts. I'll probably write almost the same thing in my diary. Truth be told, I actually feel slightly guilty about doing this on the computer. It means so much more to take the time to write things down. You actually have to think about your words. OK, good-bye!
