 My Teaching Philosophy
I believe that the end of education is to know God and out of that knowledge, to love and imitate him. [John Milton]

I believe that… nature and nurture are key factors to achieving the end of education which is to have a close and personal relationship with God.

Nature

Every person is born of God but has fallen from His grace because of sin. As a result of this separation, he needs and wants to restore a relationship between His Creator and himself. In his quest to know God, he encounters many people and things in his environment which then, because he is capable of learning, ultimately influences and molds his own unique beliefs, culture, and personality. He discovers that he is not alone and needs the support of others and comes to depend on them for his growth, particularly his significant adults – his parents and teachers.

Nurture

Although it is in a person’s nature to make it his goal to have a personal relationship with God, there are many factors that make this goal less significant than what it is meant to be. As the most significant adults and most trusted individuals in a child’s life, it is up to the parents and teachers working together to guide and support their children to keep their minds sharp by encouraging them to learn new, positive, and Godly things.

It is the parent's duty to initiate home-school collaboration by choosing a school that has ideals and beliefs that coincide with their family's own ideals and beliefs. This is important so that children will not be confused about which ideals or beliefs he is to follow and imitate and instead would be able to focus on connecting ideas more.

On my part as teacher, I realize that my own beliefs and ideals are translated to my students according to the examples that I set or the way I set it. Although I offer my students with knowledge and skills, my bigger role to play is to be a role model with what I pray to be a positive, Godly way of right living. It is also my duty to be a good communicator with parents or other professionals about the overall well-being of my students.

Although Parent-Teacher collaboration may be sufficient for many, I advise the importance of having a Church-School where the school is not based on theories and principles made by men but rather on the absolute truths based on the Word of God. Although parents and teachers working together would be able to encourage life long learning, it is interaction and guidance with Church members (Pastor/Priest, elders, Sunday school teachers, ministry heads, etc…) and their experiences that transform learned knowledge into wisdom and where wisdom is gained by having a close and personal relationship with God.
