 Faith
Faith
I was on my way home from school in our white van when my mom got a phone call. I normally try and listen in on her conversations to know what’s going on. When I figured out my mom was talking to my best friend’s mom, I tried to listen even closer. I thought maybe they were talking about having us hang out. But I was wrong. She was talking about cancer. But why I thought. I didn’t know anyone with cancer. We were almost home when my mom sadly got off the phone. I looked at her and saw how sad she was in her eyes. Something was very wrong I thought. “Mom”, I asked, “what’s wrong” She told me that Clayton had caner again. Oh my gosh! I thought. Not again. This already happened it can’t happen again. My best friend’s brother had caner for the second time. My mom said we should pray for him. I didn’t know what to think everything just got very sad. I listened to my mom’s pray. By that time I was walking through my house’s front door I was crying.

For the next few weeks my best friend came over everyday. I loved it. We would play all afternoon until her dad came and picked her up after work everyday. I never thought that it was hard on her till now. We always had fun but the only reason she came everyday to my house was because her mom was up in Stanford with her son, Clayton, so she couldn’t be at home with her. One day we were talking about her brother and how fun he was when we played games with us. We also talked about how we wish he never got sick in the first place. Then my best friend, Samantha said something that really stuck. She said, “My brother doesn’t want prayer and wishes that he’d get better, he want prayers that God’s will be done”. I was amazed that Clayton could have such a good out look. He was in so much pain, too.

So then every day since then I always prayed for God’s will to be done not just what I think should happen. I never realized that it takes so much faith say things like that until I tried it.

Clayton later that year was getting chemo when his family decided that he should have a bone marrow transplant. His brother had the exact match as him. They thought it could work. And it did. Clayton got ride of his cancer. I was so happy! My best friend later still came over often but now she had a lot more time with her healthy family, once again. It was great. I still have never forgotten how much faith Clayton had, he always said that “God would take care of him”, or “it’s in God’s hands not mine”. Faith grows in people’s lives. Clayton had so much joy to share with people; God spared his life. Clayton was in remission clear of cancer. With the strongest faith.

That is a beautiful story, God really has the power to change our lives, Clayton is right to have such belief and faith in God and it will make me think in the future about the way I tackle life. Thank you for sharing.
