Darwin’s Black Box
People my age attending public school are taught evolution as a fact of how the earth began. These students listen to there teachers assuming everything they say is correct. I have learned first hand of evolution. Scientist and teachers say our earth is million of years old, by counting layers of dirt and from carbon dating fossils. They use the Grand Canyon as there example. Also they state that people evolved from apes, which evolved from other animals, which came from bacteria. They state that there is a missing link, yet they have not found any so far. Scientist furthermore conclude that the, “missing link” from jumbled up bones, which they try to put together. School text books and world views on science teach that humans evolved over millions of years from simpler life forms. Teachers hate to be contradicted or to not know how to answers someone’s question. Many say that evolution is correct because it can be proven but can evolution be proven and without error?
Mr. Michael J. Behe author of Darwin’s Black Box, wrote this book as a non- Christian. He who was just putting research and data together to see if evolution is even possible. Mr. Behe takes you though his book and thoroughly explains why evolution can not be possible. There are many examples of why evolution could not have taken place and I will discuss some through out this essay.
Irreducible complexity is said and defined by Michael J. Behe as, "By irreducibly complex I mean a single system composed of several well-matched, interacting parts that contribute to the basic function, wherein the removal of any one of the parts causes the system to effectively cease functioning. An irreducibly complex system cannot be produced directly (that is, by continuously improving the initial function, which continues to work by the same mechanism) by slight, successive modifications of a precursor system, because any precursor to an irreducibly complex system that is missing a part is by definition nonfunctional. An irreducibly complex biological system, if there is such a thing, would be a powerful challenge to Darwinian evolution. (p. 39)” . When natural selection is said to be taking place it can only choose a system that is already there or everything would have had to happen all at once.
The eye is an irreducibly complex system. For example if you have a single part of your eye not there all at once you would not be able to see. This could not happen if evolution had taken place. “Darwin's explanation of how the eye evolved, which begins with light-sensitive spots, which then develop in depressions of increasing depth, which are then covered by a gelatinous material, which then becomes a lens, etc. ”If there was evolution everyone would be blind. Every time something evolves it is suppose to get better. (Survival of the Fittest) But how could an eye get better? There would be no eye to start with and evolving can only get better if you already have it. So you would have no eye.
Evolutionists have many different theories on how the earth came to be. For example, “The Big Bang”. They believe that the origin of the Earth came into existence by the explosion of two chemicals. Evolutionist accept as true that the Big Bang is how the earth was created and how later life began. Yet, the Big Bang is against scientific and evolutionist’s rules, instead of an explosion you would get an implosion, which would form a black hole.
All of these points show that there must be a designer. And that evolution could not have taken place. When a student just believes everything a teacher says, later in life is will be hard to judge what’s right. The earth we live in today has a designer, His name is God. In Genesis 1:1, it say,” In the beginning God Created the Heavens and the Earth.” This can be proven. The bible says so, other historical references, and by genealogical events that have taken place. Evolution is proven wrong by a great man who put together facts and data to find out what the truth is. The eye shows us how irreducibly complex life is and how it could not have just happened by chance. People should say look around at all the design. See the evidence of design, and then they should believe, there must be a designer.
In conclusions I would like to share what John Macarthur states in his book, The Battle for the Beginning. “Looking at the account of Genesis 1:1 for just a brief moment, the words in that first verse are quite remarkable. They are indicative of the incredible mind of God. God says in that first verse everything that could have been said about creation and He says it in such few terms. The statement is precise and concise almost beyond human composition. A well-known scientist, a very decorated scientist named Herbert Spencer died in 1903. In his scientific career he had become noted for one great discovery, it was a categorical contribution that he made. He discovered that all reality, all reality, all that exists in the universe can be contained in five categories...time, force, action, space and matter. Herbert Spencer said everything that exists, exists in one of those categories...time, force, action, space and matter. Nothing exists outside of those categories. That was a very astute discovery and didn't come until the nineteenth century.
Now think about that. Spencer even listed them in that order...time, force, action, space and matter. That is a logical sequence. And then with that in your mind, listen to Genesis 1:1. "In the beginning," that's time..."God," that's force, "created," that's action, "the heavens," that's space, "and the earth," that's matter. In the first verse of the Bible God said plainly what man didn't catalog until the nineteenth century. Everything that could be said about everything that exists is said in that first verse.”
