HOW DO YOU LOVE SOMEONE WHO IS HURTING SO BAD???

A lot of times when someone is in a lot of pain, it is caused
from a lack of self-respect as well as self-identity. The tragic
part is that you cannot give anyone self-respect, they have to
find that themselves, and a lot of times this means letting the
one you love hit rock bottom so that they will be compelled to
change, all the while encouraging any step in a positive
direction. At least thats how I see it.

You pray for your friend and remind them that God love them no
matter what they did. If your friend is struggling with guilt
then guide them into a greater fellowship of Christian believers.
Together you and your friend will be able to see the light down
the tunnel and you and your friend will make it through the hard
times.

You supply some of their needs. You treat them kindly. You
don't treat them like they're some sort of project! If you even
think of them as a project, however you may treat them,
eventually you will only hurt them -- quite possibly, worse than
they were already hurt. You spend time with them, allowing
them to vent, and not judging them, not offering too much advice,
and being patient when they're unable or unwilling to take your
advice. You forgive them when they screw up. You give them
a scalp massage. Or a foot massage. You take them out for
coffee, or out for dinner. You do stuff with them that
demonstrates you like them and that they have value to you.
