 Steak: a near-death experience
I nearly choked to death today on a tasty steak that I cooked. The only witness would have been a friend Wes, who was on the phone with me; and he mistook the sound of my last pathetic attempt to cough it out for a chair scraping on the floor. I put my fingers down my throat, trying to dislodge my dinner. Then, when I felt like I was going to throw up, I ran to the bathroom and hung out over the toilet for a moment. After a couple of dry heaves but nothing to show for it, I started to black out. I thought for a second of running to my roommates rooms but then remembered that he wasn't home. I would have liked to say something to Wes on the phone, but I could no longer make a sound. Things were just getting darker, and it kind of sucked. I was getting very weak and couldn't remain standing. Finally, as I relaxed my throat simply because I lacked the strength to try anymore, my dinner actually budged. It moved slightly down my throat. That didn't seem useful, but then I involuntary swallowed. Then I gasped for air and actually got some for once. So I guess I'm okay now. But, um, dang! Aaah. Whew. Sheesh. Yeah. It's good to be back.

my dad had a piece of steak caught in his esophagus and had to have it surgically removed. You were lucky, thank goodness, sheesh!
