 Random Thoughts on Love
Love is not an emotion, but an action.  Love is a deliberate choice to become vulnerable in order to allow another to get to know you in a true up close and personal kind of way.  Love is the greatest gift that God gives his children, because it costs so much to give.  Love compels us to put another before self, and love blindly chooses to continue to love, even in some of the most difficult situations.

Love is the true essence of who God is.  When we love, we reflect who God truly is to the people that He has placed around us.  Love is more than an emotion because emotions change with circumstances.  However love is unwavering and unfaltering despite the storms that may arise in its midst.

Choosing to love means being willing to forgive, and not look back at past failures.  Maybe this is why the Bible says that love covers a multitude of sins.  It is out of love that we are able to forgive.

Love is the one thing that lasts throughout eternity, and is the motivation of all that we do outside of the motive of self.  It puts self on the back burner, which is contrary to human nature.  Love is the one attribute that allows us to accurately portray who God is to the rest of the world.  Love was God's motive to send Jesus to earth as a sacrifice for our salvation.

When we act out of love, we leave another person better off than we found them.  Love has the power to heal past hurts and failures, and gives confidence to those who are weak and faltering.  Love is one of the most powerful forces on this earth.

Our ability to love is a gift from God.  Apart from his love, it is difficult if not impossible to move past self and put another first, unconditionally.

Love celebrates when others succeed.  Love seeks out the best in others, even if finding the best requires a long tough dig.  Love keeps on going when all other things have long given up.  Love is the motivation for all that we do that is truly good.  Maybe this is why the Bible says that love never fails.

Thanks for your kind words homesite88 and for the rating. I didn't really think about the gift of the soul, I was thinking about the spiritual gifts. But you are right, the gift of the soul is a very special thing that makes us the special part of His creation.

Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to read my post. I really appreciate it.

Hugs and hope that you have a wonderful week.

beautiful Jenn- this just encapsulates the message I've been trying to preach. I love one line from the message bible- it's in Romans I think -I'll have to look it up- but it says "live in love as though your life depended on it- because it does." " in the beginning was the word" and that word is love- it was, it is , and it ever shall be....

I like that live in love as your life depended on it. That just says it all. So many people are just looking for love, and when they come up empty, use anything and everything to fill that void. I think these are the people that we should be trying to reach out and love to Jesus. I know that is what you do in your ministry.

We as Christians have so much through Jesus---love, mercy, grace, and peace. To bad we don't share it to well with the rest of the world. I hope that I am able to share just a little of that here, and out in my world.

It was great to hear from you---by the way, can you put out that Angel challenge again? Would love to participate in it, and had another blogger who said they'd like to participate in it too.

Well. I hope that you have a great week.
