How will You Be Remembered?
During the past couple of weeks, we have lost some famous people unexpectedly. Last week, I was stunned Michael Jackson unexpectedly passed away at 50 years old. Yesterday, the same feeling revisited me when I was watching the local news and saw that NFL quarterback Steve McNair was found shot dead in his condo in downtown Nashville.
Pretty much immediately, the local news station in Nashville began calling former Titan players who were friends with the famous quarterback. I really appreciated what former Titans player Brad Hopkins had to say in a telephone interview. How he remembered Steve McNair was him playing with his children. It struck me, that with all of the time that he spent on the field, and all of the incredible plays and going to the Super Bowl, his fondest memory was of Steve McNair playing with his children.
The totality of our lives can be summed up by our actions and interactions with the people around us. We are remembered though the way we choose to interact with others. These interactions are the foundation for the memories others will have about us, and thus are the cornerstone to the legacy we leave behind.
This led me to question how I want to be remembered. I want to be remembered as a loving and devoted wife. I want to live my life in a way that my family will never question the pride, love, and joy that I feel for them. I want to live my life in a way that proves that I love God by how I choose to share that love with all of those around me.
So, with that being said, I want to intentionally live my life in a way to build those memories in those that I love. I want to leave proof of what I believe in how by how I choose to conduct my life, and my business. I want to leave that proof in the way that I choose to treat the people that God chose to place in my life. I want me to happen to life, and not just let life happen to me.
So, How do you want to be remembered, and what are you doing about it?
