 Explain to me the logic....
First and foremost I'd like to thank everyone for visiting.  i hit 100 views tonight, and where it's nothing compared to what I was getting on blogster I feel pretty good considering I'm starting from scratch here.  This post is going to hit a few points tonight so try to stick with me.

I'd like to ask anyone out there who has the time or belief to say a little prayer for my Ryles (my avatar).  She's a little over two and is in the process of being diagnosed with a genetic condition.  The vet beliefs she has a hereditary bleeding disorder; while it can be managed it will shorten her life-span by about half.  Maybe luck will pull us through and it's just plain old kidney stones, but she's exhibiting all the symptoms for the condition and it's fairly common in one of her contributing breeds.  Thank you so much.

Now, to the meat and potatoes....Explain to me the logic here.  There are people out there that in one breath say that the debt is appalling.  The scream at the top of their lungs at how Medicare is being handled, at how we've borrowed from social security.  They go on and on about how BAD the U.S. government has become.  (K, so I'm guilty of this one.)  You can't count recent mistakes on two hands because you run out fingers.  Yet...

...they think these people capable of running our healthcare system.  They praise cap and trade, then swear taxes won't go up because our president "said so."  And they're just as happy to give them something else they can control.  Perhaps, and I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt, he DIDN'T intend for taxes to go up.  Perhaps, he MEANT what he said on the campaign trail.

However, desiring something doesn't make it a reality.  I tend to like to live in this little demension called reality.  It sucks, let's be honest.  But I'd rather live here in sucksville any day rather than in happyland.  BECAUSE  happyland exists in your immagination and while immagination can be a powerful tool we must be wary not to use it for the dark-side.  Is making people believe what they want to hear is going to happen when it really isn't ethical?

On the flip side I have to give our politicians kudos.  If I was dealing with an American public that would eat whatever I spoonfed them through the media at face value I'd probably screw them over too.  Hey, what can I say?  It's a dog eat dog world and the politicians just happen to be mastiffs (big, but a little slow to act and well...ugly) and we're the little furry taco bell dogs.  Unfortunately for them there's more of us than them and we're strong when we travel in packs.

George Bernard Shaw once said, "Democracy is a form of government that substitutes election
by the incompetent many for appointment by the corrupt few."  I hate to point be the one to point it out, but ladies and gentlemen I would like to congratulate us on doing one hell of a job at proving this guy right.  The worst part is I'm not talking about Obama.  It is the legislature that's writing these laws that are destroying our democracy, he's just an enabler (which really isn't any better, but hey...).

So, in conclusion....
I would like someone to explain to me the logic in giving more power to those whom we feel are already abusing the power they have.
I would like someone to explain to me logic of people believing in the media (be it Fox News, ABC, MSNBC, etc...) as we already believe them corrupt.
I would like someone to explain to me the logic in re-electing the same men and women to do the same jobs just so we can have the same complaints.
I would like someone to explain to me how we spend two years electing the guy who will sign the laws while most of us can't name the people who write the laws for us.
But mostly I would like...
Someone to explain to me why we continue to strive to be uneducated, to be the incompetent many and why we continue to elect the corrupt few.

P.S.--I'd also like to know why everyone's setting their fireworks off tonight instead of...today?  Happy 4th of July.

P.P.S.--I'm not going to the Tea Party here in Lafayette tomorrow.  They've turned it into some comercialized fiasco and I for one want to no part.

P.P.P.S.---Good Night!  =^^=

Well, no mincing words - thanks for that! And you are 100% correct in that the 'sheeple' are a politician's best griend and most likely victim. this site is my first attempt at blogging and commenting, so far I've been pretty happy here - welcome!
