 Free will?
The question of free will, free choice.

She is manipulated constantly. All her thoughts and all her actions are determined by her environment, society, or her biology. Her mind was constructs over time to be a muscle to make her conform. She has emotions so that she feels the pull to remain a part of society. Doing what is acceptable, or even doing what is somewhat not acceptable is all part of the plan. Give them some room to think they are making their own decisions, and that is when you will have the greatest control.

The dilemma is that there is no other controlling her. She is manipulating herself. Her mind is what makes her act or think, but her mind has been conditioned to do so. The whole purpose of her brain is to help her better understand her environment and survive, one of the theories for brain development is that in order to live in the larger social gropus early humans formed,  there needed to be greater intellegence to keep the social groups working well. Therefore, from the beginning the brain has been a mechanism for keeping humans together and forging bonds between them. Emotions and thinking, there is no greater trap.

The problem she is facing, is that she is constantly aware of this fact. If she could forget about how manipulated she feels then she could just go through her life unbothered, like most. But this is not how she works, and sometimes it is something that she envies, but sometimes she likes the way that she can think. But it makes her questions the legitimacy of all the things that she does and all the emotions that she feels. People try help her, try to get her to accept the way that things are. They try to make her more comfortable, more stable. Is this the entire point to her existence, to be content and happy? She feels like everything is so trivial, so ridiculous. The only reason she is still here is because she knows that other people don't feel like this and that her death would cause them so much pain. She cannot do that to them, and they would not understand what she thinks, so she just tries everyday to come to terms with her life, whatever the hell that may mean.
