Obama the Affirmative Action Candidate and Dumbed Down Americans

On January 23 of this year, I wrote a blog questioning whether or not Obama could be the AA candidate. After recently reading several news articles and hearing what various political experts on TV shows have said, I believe that there is no question that Obama is the Affirmative Action candidate.

A number of facts seem to point in that direction. In no particular order of importance, a top McCain campaign maven stated that if Obama were the Democrat nominee, he would have to quit the campaign because he knew Obama and couldn't say anything nasty about him (now that's a "change" for a Republican political worker).

And the other question is, if much of the support is because of the Clintons' supposed (imagined) denigration of a symbolic black leader, as well as a form of "redemption" for white voters, how will it be possible for anyone to attack Obama for his screw-ups as President - which are bound to happen - if doing so will cause an outcry of "racism" - since that also is bound to happen?

Columnists, including David Broder, have either indicated or directly stated that the print media has been very tolerant of Obama, while that was not the case for Clinton - a fact any vaguely intelligent person could discern. Case in point? The Kennedy's endosement of Obama, and the resulting large victory for Clinton in Massachusetts, yet that very important result was brushed off by most of the media, including guys like Chris Matthews and Keth Olbermann.

Shelby Steele, author of: WHY WE ARE EXCITED ABOUT OBAMA AND WHY HE CAN'T WIN, states, in so many words, that the election of Obama to the Presidency would be detrimental to those Black leaders whose power lies in the confrontation with whites over their "keeping the black man down" theory. After all, if Obama does end up victorious, what happens to that argument?

Even those who understand that Obama is more style than substance say they will stay with him. It has been observed that amongst his white supporters, there is the underlying feeling that doing so will help them rid themselves of "guilt feelings"(?!)

All of which points out that unity message Obama preaches is nonsense - it is only way to attract those who do not. nor want to, think, but who only react to a candidate's 'star quality'. Which, by the way, is OK, if all other important factors are considered, such as past history of achievement, specific plans for the future, and so forth, none of which anyone has actually heard from the candidate. But reacting to Obama as a messenger of the good life, a maker of change for change's sake,is just another proof of the dumbing down effect of the modern era.
