The war in Iraq is costing about $10 billion a month and could cost over a trillion dollars, but while President Bush supports a costly war, he is vetoing a $35 billion increase to a child health insurance plan. What kind of president wastes billions each month for a war in a foreign country, but will not support a bill that looks after the health of American children? This bill was Congress passed and has the support of both Democrats and Republicans, so Bush is out of touch with the will of the people, the will of Congress, and even his own party. President Bush, like a coward, wielded his veto behind closed doors trying to avoid news coverage, but President Bush and his (Sicko) veto must be exposed!
The State Children’s Health Insurance Program is co-run both by both the states and the federal government and provides 6.6 million children and families with coverage. These are families that earn too much to qualify for Medicaid, but are not earning enough to afford private medical coverage. The additional $35 billion dollars over the next five years would allow four million more children to get the Medicare and would have been paid for vis-à-vis an increase in cigarette taxes. Parents should not have to choose between health care and food, or health care and rent. Of the forty-three million people nation-wide who do not have private health coverage, nine million of those are children. Every child and every person deserves affordable health care in a humane society.
The President thinks funding a war in Iraq is more important than funding the health care of American children. George W Bush is a Sicko!
