Hi Jess, while we have never met, after reading this post I said a prayer for your strength and recovery. Even if you are not religious, please know that there are people you don't even know who care about you and are sending positive thoughts and good vibrations your way. Stay strong and hold tight onto your loved ones. You will get through this.

sorry to hear about your dilemma. i agree with you that we always need to better ourselves. it sounds to me like the two of your might be in different places of the path to bettering yourselves in life. i am not saying anything bad about russ, becuase it sounds to me like he is a normal college aged guy. the thing is, a normal college aged guy usually tends to go through these things. it sounds like you are ready for something more serious, a real long term commitment. i don’t have any advice on what to do, but that is how i see it from a guy who was once college age himself. i eventually grew up and out of that stage, as do most guys. but most of us also go through it too. not everyone though.

i have not heard of this before. i personally would not buy diamonds off of ebay. i really can't think of an easier way to get ripped off becuase you never know who the seller is. if you are thinking of buying diamonds on the internet, buy directly from a major diamond dealer with years of experience. this way you will not get taken to the cleaners. ebay it legit, but you don't know about the sellers. i looked at empirediamonds profile on ebay and they have only been a member since feb 07 so that would also make me wonder. its just my 2 cents

it sounds to me like you should try quitting for an entire year. anyone can quit for a week. if you can quit for a full year, then you can probably feel comfortable knowing that you are the one in control. if not, it might be the alcohol and that is something you would need to take a close look at while you are still young.

hey bounce. sorry to hear about your bad day. i am curious, did you officially quit the news paper job? i ask becuase if you did not, you might want to stick it out a while longer. many times work places/bosses will test you in a way much like what you have experienced. it is not that they hate your writing, but they want to see how you handle the pressue and rejection. if you did not quit, try to go back. if you did quite, hopfully it is a lesson learned and next time you will be prepared for such a test. good luck man...

Oh the tribulations!!! on 2007-06-27 11:14:19 |
|
the first thing you need to do is cut up your credit cards. they are one of the biggest problems people face with debt. we start buying things we don't have the money for. this is a mjaor mistake. if you have already cut them up, the next thing is to keep paying off the existing debt as fast as you can. it is not fun, but when you have all of the debt paid off you will feel much better. another important thing to do, although not always easy is to live within your means. don't go spening money on things that are not needed. i know none of this is great to hear, but it can help you to get our from under the debt pile. i had to do this myself years ago. it was hard work, but well worth it.

wow! what a day. i hope things go well for you & big al, as well as your mother and wife in Portugal over the next 6 days. please keep us updated on the events.
this part gave me a great laugh:
"Right well what a morning, first off dad got me up at 7.15am thinking it was 9am so there went my lye in anyway I got him up and prepared his breakfast, first mistake I made his coffee too soon so he complained it was not warm enough, I put his aspirin to disolve in his plastic cup but eh I didn't realise he always always as to drink half of the water first before putting the aspirin in the other half then drinking it. Giving Al his insuline was another trauma, he always has to argue how much he needs luckily I was briefed by mom who told me just to pretend to agree to whatever he said just to keep him happy."
thanks chris... i can't wait to hear about the adventures tomorrow

you are always coming up with interesting questions, however this part about giving up a sense i would rather not answer. i guess my reluctance to answer this comes based on the principle of “be careful what you wish for”. on the other side, I would most dislike giving up my vision. I love to watch movies, tv, look at photos, and watch sunsets. I love looking at my wife and baby son so much, so I need to hang on to my vision thank you very much. all of these our so critical to our every days lives when you start to think about it. Another great question of the day crate_expectations

Online Dating on 2007-06-27 10:00:58 |

good questions. while i have not experienced online dating first hand, i do know of 3 different couples that met on the internet. all 3 of which are now married. 2 of them have been married for more than 5 years and are happliy married. the 3rd couple's relationship is a little more rocky though. so in my small sample of friends, 66% are happily married after 3 years, and 33% are married on rocky terms after just a few years. granted, this is not enough information at all, but it is what i know from some of my friends. i hope this helps and would like to know what others have to say about this.

you ARE good enough.
when you woke up this morning, were you still breathing? of course you were... otherwise you could never had made this post. this is a very basic reason to be happy.
when you woke up this morning, was the sun rising? once again, it was. and yet another very basic reason to be happy.
you live in the usa right? this is a major reason to be happy. we are all very fortunate who live in the usa. there are many places in this world you could be that are so much worse. count your blessings on this one.
at the end of the day, to be happy you must look at the things you have to be greateful for. everyone has things in their life that suck. if we focus on them, we will never be happy.
instead focus on the positive things in life whatever they might be. this in turn, will bring you more positive things to be happy about. i wish you much happiness becuase you do deserve it, and it is within you already...

great post wallygray! i miss the days of watching mike tyson as the heavy weight champ. even when holyfield was around there were some fantastic heavy weight fights. these days it seeems like there are not any good heavy weight bouts lined up anymore. i know its not all about heavy weights, but there is something exciting about a knock out. i got very into the first season of "the contender" on tv, but then they cancelled it. it still runs on espn though, and is still a pretty show. heres to hoping there will be some exciting fights to watch in the months & years ahead. i do love a good boxing match.
