 Life at the Deep End
Being the parent of a child with special needs is both a blessing and a curse.  It makes you vastly grateful for what you do have, and wistful for all the normal that you do not.  It makes you deeply appreciate a night of straight sleep and a successful playdate in ways that parents of typical children simply cannot understand.  It also makes you want to weep when your child is the only one not able to enjoy or participate in kiddie gym.  My life, which often keeps me working to tread water when I truly long to float, is Life at the Deep End.
