Herbert Hoover has said” children are our most valuable natural resource” children are considered future of any society but what about Pakistan where these children are increasingly exposed to abused, kidnapping and violence.
The ratio of this ferocious practice is increasing day by day and abusers are free to move in society. Pakistan remains a major conduit of child trafficking of children from south Asia to Middle East and Europe.
Beside all this we continue to allow heera mandi than how can we protect these children because as most likely place, girls are taken to heera mandi or its equalant.
In 2007 among 2,321 of total cases reported, 1,612(62%) were girls and 709(31%) were boys and 62 children were murdered after being sexually assaulted.
All cases reported in newspapers are classified in age groups that is 5years and below, 6 to 0 years, 11 to 15 years and 16 to 18 years. The places of abuse of 44% cases were not reported at all. The other places are highway, house under construction, shelter home, poultry farm, grave yard, clinic, and tube well, park, internet café, inside car, power house, store and train. Sexual abuse is usually committed by those who have power control and easy access to children therefore abusers are usually known.
Both men and women can be abuser.
Cases are seen where a father abused his daughter sexually so nothing worst could happen in any society. This is condition of a country that was build in the name of Islam. Who are the responsible people who can help solving such problems?
Hold on!! Don’t think about our religious scholars, they are busy in politics. What are authorities doing? What are our so called law makers doing when they can’t implement these laws?
We buy a mean to the offender to get themselves out rather then fulfilling the real aim of the” punishment or crime” which is to punish the wrong doer and deter potential wrong doers.
No nation or society is perfect but they at least try to make things better. It is a fact that society behaves and modifies its behavior with in the space provided by regulations ,relax the regulations and you have a bad society, screw it up and they all are civilized.
If all abusers are given n appropriate punishment then this crime will decrease and happen at much lower rate. It seems that our regulations are totally deaf and blind now or they intentionally want to be? If not then why are they not taking any initiative to destroy heera mandi and other red light areas? To eliminate the vulnerability of the children a great deal of education and information is needed at all educational levels.
Police need to be sensitized on dealing with the victims of child sexual abuse and for this purpose awareness trainings should be conducted with police officials. And our religious scholars should pay attention toward social taboos in our society if they get time from politics.
