Writing has always been a passion of mine - especially hard-hitting news. However, there is one problem.......... finding jobs.

"Experienced writer wanted, must have at least 7 years experience"
"Senior Reporter, min. 10+ years B2B essential"

How are people like myself who have to do things for themselves supposed to get anywhere when daddy's little solider who couldn't write instructions for toilet paper gets a top job writing for the UK's best selling paper. It just doesn't make sense......

I have been stuck in sales for about a year now, writing freelance when the opportunity arrives - but it isn't the same. It is like going to school and your best mate has a strawberry lolly - your favourite - and she lets you smell it, but you can't taste it! Torture.

Over the past year I have sent out around 2000 C.V.'s - not just for journalist positions, but for similar editorial jobs - and nothing! I receive letters saying...

"After careful consideration we have decided that we need someone with more experience than you currently have. However, please contact us in 20years.."

I am baffled when people say this because it just turns into a vicious circle. You need more experience, but we wont give you a job because you haven't got as much experience as we need, so how do I get more experience, I don't know but you haven't got enough experience to work with us.....

It puts you off your dream when you get to this point and think it is never going to happen, especially not to me. So what do you do?

I guess you just gotta keep trying.
