| Are Today's Christians, Yesterday's Catholics? |
As a modern day RC I am finding more and more each day, some Christians on this forum who seem to have taken the place of the RC individuals of yesteryear. They seem to be of the belief that there is only one true religion in this world and they are part of it.
They act as though they are the "brand labels" and the rest of us are the "factory rejects". That doesn't seem to be "WWJD" does it? It is difficult to disagree with them because they drag Him in all of their arguments quoting His words whether they apply to the situation at hand or not. They use Him to speak for them and they can be very patronizing while doing so sometimes.
The entitlement of salvation they strongly believe in, for some of them is their "carte blanche" to do and say as they please regardless of who they hurt in the process. I know that there are many Christians also who do practice what they preach, I just don't seem to be talking to very many of them, here on this forum of thoughts. Perhaps they are out there helping others to find God. Now that's an idea!
For weeks now I have been made to endure the punishment of the sins of My Ancestors. I am not the RC of yesteryear, I, my church, has evolved immensely since then and unless you are an active participant of the RC church today, you couldn't possibly know that far less have the right to comment otherwise.
It is so easy to point fingers at everyone, pass judgment on them by quoting bible verses and being condescending, that it is so shameful! I wonder if the many interpretations of "His" words spoken by many Christians today are truly acceptable to Him. I wonder also if He is pleased about how some Christians treat others of different faiths/religions when they dare to disagree with their comments, their views, their opinions etc. etc.
How they freely judge others and consequently dispose of them at their leisure. I am never surprised when I hear or read a Christian say "Be friendly, associate with those who please you make you happy and cast all others aside who do not. I seem to recall reading in the bible in many scriptures, the closest relationships that Jesus had were with the gravest sinners who He brought to salvation through their repentance. I don't recall salvation being a "free" gift that does not need to be earned.
If only the past could be left in the past and the sins of others left to die therefore opening the doors to reform and acceptance, forgiveness all that is fruitful in life. There would be no need to feel superior to others to feel good about ones self. He would be allowed to enter everyone's hearts and souls and we would actually be all equals. Have a great day! Linda
