It didn't begin well. I had a strange dream about being in a city that was a combination of my hometown (which is a smallllllllll town) and Alexandria, KY, which is a bit larger. I was sitting with my family on a couch on the sidewalk while my mother and sister went through yardsales. My father and I were playing guitar....I really miss mine! I'm getting another one soon, I hope!!!
Well, I was sooo sore from carrying things home yesterday (Jess and I were given free photo paper, and we borrowed and purchased several books), and I felt like I didn't sleep well, so I was not in a good mood. The morning went well, though. Our class is small, and everyone helps each other out, and we had a great time building sets and shooting still lives. The only drawback is that I don't care for shooting 4"x5" polaroid! It's a bit tricky to get it seated and make certain that the film stays when you pull the paper out to expose it. After that, it's fairly simple. The best part is that we only have to turn in the positive...no large prints, no photo paper and multiple exposures for the proper contrast, etc. It's fairly straightforward, and you know immediately if you need to change the light, camera settings, or if it isn't focused. That's a definite plus.
Well, it's DAMN hot here! Between 95-99 degrees, plus humidity. Urgh. Jess bought me a limited edition Holga Diana on Monday, and I've REALLY been wanting to go shooting, but I can't! I'll probably take it tomorrow or Friday, when the temps will be cooler.
I'm feeling a bit better, in case you can't tell. Things are looking up, or at least I feel they are. This quarter seems like it's going to go rather well. Once it's over, things will pick up and be more hectic, since I'll have either three studio classes or two studios and a lecture...either way, it's a lot of work. Once fall quarter is finished, however, my family will be down! Yay! They're thinking of celebrating Christmas here, but I'd rather go to KY instead. (I almost said it was home, but it isn't anymore...home is wherever I land when I graduate, I guess.)
Well, I'm going to take a break, read up some on photoshop, and write a proposal for tomorrow. Yipee!
Hope you all are having a humidity-free summer thus far! |
