How much do you love your ISP? If you think they seem to do a pretty decent job your mind may change later down the road. ISP's are being pressured by RIAA to enforce copyright, what does this mean for you? Well, taking an example from Australians ISP EXETEL, all copyrighted content on the web could be deleted every 24 hours. Now, you might say good, all those pirated movies, music and so on would be gone and corporations wouldn't have to worry about piracy anymore. Well, yes...that would be true...but you know all those fun little flicks on youtube that make you laugh, the ones that are posted by users for other people to watch, say goodbye to those. Generally the ISP deletes files such as avi, .mp3, .wmv, and .mov.

If there ever was a war between the community and independent corporations in the software world, like the one against pirating, who do you think would win? Well despite some companies best efforts such as AACS on HD-DVD disk, hackers remain one step ahead. The
new keys for HD-DVD players were hacked 1 week before they were set to be distributed, this was proven with a pre-release of the HD-DVD movie the Matrix. So how could those millions of dollars being spent on copy protection, that are raising the cost of media, that are screwing over legit buyers, that don't even work, be put to better use? I could find a few things to invest in with a million dollars.
New Tech
Remember those sci fi movies where advertising popped out at you in 3d images all over the place, holograms of people moving their arms around were on every corner? Well that might not be as far off into the distance as you might think!
Philips has made a 20 inch 3d displaythat you can look at without the need of special glasses or equipment. This could soon be a standard display in advertisement.
Intel has a sweet
new chip in development. They combined Silicon with a new material called indium antimonide to conduct electrical signals. Seems it requires less power (more battery life for notebook and mobile devices) and boosts performance which translates to more features.
Speaking of improving batteries, The University of Houston is developing a "cool" battery. A battery 2 sugar cubes in size can power a laptop computer, and another just 2 soda cans in size can power your house! They call them "
film solid oxide fuel cells" which use cheaper materials and skip catalyst process in regular batteries and are 65% - 75% efficient (coal plants convert energy at about 35% right now).
I havn't quite gone through everything I would like, so hopefully I will come out with another post tomorrow.
