So, folks, it’s coming closer to that time of year again...
The often dreaded, but mostly loved, Christmas.
Now, last year I attempted to organise an online Kris Kringle.
And... well... It worked.
SO! Who’s up for it this year?
Last year, it was originally started as only a virtual exchange of gifts (e-gift) – I liked the actual gift idea, but didn’t think it would go very well over the internet. But Douglas suggested it to me, I pursued the idea (“tangible” gift giving, I called it), and several members exchanged gifts in real life.
well, those who want to participate; strictly voluntary.
So, to set some ground rules/get to know some key ideas.
* Sign Up - Thoughts members wanting to participate, leave me a comment (if you will definitely do it) or send me a message with your email address (probably be best if it wasn’t just your Thoughts one, had trouble with those wanting to do e-gifts not being able to send them, I believe). 'Enrolment' will be due by a yet-to-be-assigned date, to give me enough time to send comment/email, and assign people and gift-think & prepare.
* E-Gift or Real Gift - Decide whether you want to send an e-gift or a real gift – entirely up to you, (some members who sent real gifts last year were EasyToSay, bigd49, DouglasMB, pitapie50, Elean and KP.)
* Notification - At that date I will send everyone an email notifying them of the person they are to give a 'virtual gift' to. There will be a time limit (i.e exchanging should happen before Christmas). Each participant will be a gift giver and a gift receiver.
* Give a gift/s - Gifts should be anonymous before the time of sending. Come on guys, don't spoil it by telling everyone who you've got!
* Gifts might include:
- anonymous encouraging comments/emails to the person.
- sending virtual cards or flowers
- making a donation to charity in the persons name (corny, but it’s been done in the past)
- writing a blog review/link/poem etc about them/their blog/for them
- real gifts can be varied (eg. I sent my American friends a boomerang last year).
* Be Creative - The ‘presents’ are limited only by your imagination. Be as creative as you like. Enlist the help of other bloggers in your giving if you'd like, just don’t tell them who you have. Give more than one gift if you have the time and creativity.
So, any more ideas?
Whether it be interesting gift ideas, tips, anything.
More information will be posted in a few days after everyone has had a chance to read this – don’t want to overwhelm you!
I know it seems early, and that we've still got Halloween to go, but this kind of thing takes time and a lot of planning.
Please give this a go. It worked like a charm last year!
I want to hear from you! - Amy.
