| Heritage/Meaning of a Name |
|
One thought that just popped into my head is my ancestry. Sure my great-great-grandparents were "off the boat" so to speak, but how much does it really affect me? For example, I am 1/4 Czech, 1/4 German, 1/8 Italian, 1/16 English, 1/16 Scottish, 1/8 Native American, and I don't even know my other 1/8. My point being, my last name is Italian, but half of my bloodline consists of Czech and German whereas I am only 1/8 Italian. So in this day in age in the new generation, we are really more American than we are of anything else. Sure I can say I am Italian because of my name, or German, or Czech, or Native American, or whatever else, none of that affects my life at all. I guess I just thought of this after thinking about my true heritage and wondering about my ancestors. Moral of the story, "Don't judge a book by its cover."
