I took off the last two days. Thursday I went to the Indian Casino. Lost of course. Friday, the 4th of July, I did something stupid. This dumb old drunk blew 45 days sober. I got a bottle, went to the pool wherer I live and got drunk. When will I learn to stop doing that. I keep getting down on myself, and then I'll get something too drink. This is my 6th relapse in over a year.Today I start counting again from day one. Hopefully this time I'll finally get it right. |

The problem with drinking is that you drink to drown your sorrows, but when you stop drinking it all comes back. However, the main reason that you feel sorrow is because you drink, it's a neverending cycle. Everybody has relapses, but in order to stop, ask yourself WHY you had those relapses...WHY did you feel the need to drink?- was it because you hadn't been drinking or was it due to some other factor. In turn also ask yourself aside from drinking what are some other activities you like doing? Whenever you feel the need to drink- go do those instead. YOUR HUMAN! Everybody relapses- you just have to find your center and another way to cope with your sorrows- and remember that the reason you ARE DOWN IS BECAUSE OF THE ALCOHOL. Wish you all the best, and I hope that you do "get it right this time" - take care

You can't quit now, hippie. I think it would help to join a support group.
Think about it. Peace :)

Let go of the role you play as a drunk, that's not who you are. Start believing that drinking won't make you feel better because you know it doesn't and you will stop. Beware of counting the days and try to stay clear of 12step groups. That will only prolong your identification with your "problem." Instead of thinking that you "relapsed" 6 times this past year (failure again) think about the times in between when you were sober. Wow, you only drank 6 times in a year? How many people can say that?

I don't drink and kudos for you for trying to stop, but maybe it's not so bad. I mean it was a "holiday" i guess, and it was for celebration right? Not, just for the safe of getting drunk?
But again kudos to you and good luck with staying sober.
