 Online Bullying
I wanted to write a blog about the feud that is currently going on between TheAmandaChronicles and his enemies, gsh2096 and Moomanda.  First of all I want it clear that I'm not friends with any of these people so my comments are that of an outside observer.

Personally I find this feud between TheAmandaChronicles and his opponents to be a rather disturbing example of harassment.  It seems to me to be a case of online bullying.  That's the only word I can think for it.  Some of have defended it as just being in good fun, just humour but just because something is amusing doesn't mean it's not bullying.

One individual is mocking another individual with the intent of humiliating them.  If that were to happen on the playground we would call it bullying and just because it's done online makes it no different.  If someone came up to you and started cracking jokes about you, or your friend, being fat, stupid or perverted wouldn't you consider that a personal attack?  Any reasonable person would admit that it is.

Now, I'll admit that I don't personally like the blogs of TheAmandaChronicle myself.  I read a few and found them a little disturbing.  Some of the things that he's said and done concern me somewhat.  However, what I have seen does not constitute sufficient cause for anyone to launch a campaign of harassment against him.  As far as I know I haven't seen any proof that he's breaking any rules or laws so people really have no right to harass him.  Vigilante justice is rarely justice at all.

I praise you for this post. Harrassment of any kind is bad. Noone deserves that.Being that these posts are on the internet and each person has control of their keyboard..if you don't like something move along. An ordinary life is an extraordinary thing. I enjoy reading about different lifestyles..I am trying not to judge people and by all means I won't harass people by making fun of them. Thanks for posting your thoughts about this huge problem and Thank Thoughts.com for finally handling this problem. :0

As I stated earlier, it's irrelevant whether something is funny or not when determining whether it is bullying. It's often funny to make fun of fat people. Cruel but funny. That's why you see so many jokes about them made by comedians, on various tv shows, etc. It's especially painful when the joke is directed at a particular person and he/she knows it. If you have complaints/issues with a person the reasonable and adult way of dealing with them is to state your argument in a reasoned manner without resorting to petty name calling and mockery. If you are a public figure with national or international notoriety it probably is not possible to avoid parodies and mockery and that's probably the price you just have to pay for being a public figure. However, on thoughts.com we are not public figures in my opinion, just every day joes and janes, and, even if we were public figures, thoughts.com is private property and the administrators have the right to put rules in place for it which, as far as I understand, include anti-harassment rules. I fully support this.
