| Losers |

Ever thought that you were a loser? In times of depression I know I have and I think it's probably something a lot of people have told themselves at one point or another. You look at where your life is and are dissatisfied because you're not where you want to be in your career, personal life, spiritual life, etc. I've come to a realization though: Everybody is a loser. That probably sounds pretty negative and cynical but, in a strange way, I don't think it is, I think it's liberating.
Everybody has flaws and shortcomings. Everyone has failed to meet expectations, either their own or other people's. Not even celebrities and the powerful can escape such criticism. Political leaders will be thought of as failures for not attaining or keeping power or achieving goals that they or others have set. Celebrities will be thought of as failures for not being as beautiful as the next new star or not bringing enough profit at the box office on their latest film.
You can take any person and find some shortcoming with him/her that could earn them the title of "loser". The rich doctor who has the nice house and expensive car is a loser because he couldn't make it into the medical specialty that he wanted to or because he's now alienated from his family due to all the time he's spending at work. The handsome player that hangs out at the clubs and attracts all the hot girls is a loser because he has jaded himself to the emotions of others and can only understand how to manipulate others feelings but not really find a connection with anyone and because he has now become an alcoholic and/or drug addict from partying all the time. And so on and so on.
So, the next time you look at some personal failure and think to yourself that you're loser don't get too depressed about it because who isn't?
