Wow, sounds like you're having lots of fun there, pita. Don't burn yourself out. Personally i know I'm about to overload when my eyelid starts twitching.

I love my country but I wouldn't say we are perfect on the rule of law front. We have plenty of injustice in our history as well. However, I think one advantage that Canada has had, if you want to call it an advantage, is that we have never been a superpower. I think when your country becomes really powerful you tend to devolve into all the vices that empires always seem to devolve into... i.e. you're concerned about maintaining your place in the world, maintaining national security at all costs, etc. etc.

I'm not sure what Pell grants are but I'm going to talk to Financial Aid next week I think. Hopefully they can tell me about loans and grants, etc.

I don't know about the origins you are speaking of but I believe that if you treat your child with love and respect you have a very good chance of that being returned, no matter what "truth" might be revealed.

The masses love their bread and circuses. It's one of the flaws of having a democratic system. Many of the electorate will be disengaged and/or easily manipulated. However, I'm not big on replacing democracy with one of the alternatives either so.. what do you do? :)

Well, it's a couple of days late but I hope you enjoyed your trip to the liquor store. :)

Well if I was in the neighbourhood I'd drive you, pita. I love driving. In fact just got back from my roadtrip.. and, btw,did I hear you say there was a town called Hooterville? Doooo go on.

Good for you for pursuing a new career. There's at ime you just have to say 'Ok, that's it, this all sucks and I'm chuckin it overboard. Now on to my next chapter in life'. :)

Just got back from my little trip the other day so I missed some of your blogs and am trying to catch up. I'm sorry to hear school is keeping you busy but I hope you don't stop blogging on here because I really enjoy reading them. Coincidentally, now that they've had the Primary in Pennsylvania today which seems to be a marginal victory for Hillary how long do you think this is goin to drag out? I think that, if the Democrats keep fightin this out right to the convention, they're giving McCain a free ride to build up momentum to use against them.

Hmmm. Maybe just pick a topic each day and write a story/essay about it, even if you don't feel too inspired by it? Perhaps that would get rid of the block? Dunno. Just thinking off the top of my head.

Farts are funny. I like belches too. I can belch on command and always find that entertaining though strangely enough other people don't always. As for verbal slip ups here's one for you... when I was in highschool there was this girl I liked and one day she was upset and crying and went off into this sort of side room beside the class. I figured I'd see if she was alright so I went in and found out that, for some reason, she was changing clothes.. I had meant to say "Is there anything I can do for you?" but, after seeing her in a state of half undress, I ended up saying, "Is there anything I can do TO you?" Try recovering from that one.

Thanks, pita. Yeah, I have to do a few more things this week like take a first aid course I had scheduled and also work some security at a local shopping mall (I'm still on call for a security company and they asked me to come in to cover some shifts) but next week I am going on a little trip. Looking forward to it. :)

Wisdom is painfully acquired. Gotta love that testosterone (sp?) that makes us guys (and some women) wanna show the world who's boss. :)

So concludes a moving and painful story. May your future stories be filled with happiness. It seems to me that you have more to live for then perhaps you thought in the past.

Depression is a powerful force. I know as I continue to battle with it off and on. I hope you get the support you need and also don't worry so much about body weight and don't force yourself to throw up. Find someone you can talk to about your problems to get them out there.. a counsellor, a friend, whoever.

As I stated earlier, it's irrelevant whether something is funny or not when determining whether it is bullying. It's often funny to make fun of fat people. Cruel but funny. That's why you see so many jokes about them made by comedians, on various tv shows, etc. It's especially painful when the joke is directed at a particular person and he/she knows it. If you have complaints/issues with a person the reasonable and adult way of dealing with them is to state your argument in a reasoned manner without resorting to petty name calling and mockery. If you are a public figure with national or international notoriety it probably is not possible to avoid parodies and mockery and that's probably the price you just have to pay for being a public figure. However, on thoughts.com we are not public figures in my opinion, just every day joes and janes, and, even if we were public figures, thoughts.com is private property and the administrators have the right to put rules in place for it which, as far as I understand, include anti-harassment rules. I fully support this.

I'm glad to see that the thoughts.com staff have taken the matter seriously. Kudos.

I have read your series of blogs and I must say it is quite the read. Some very touching moments in it. I'll admit I teared up a little bit reading about your reunion with your son. I salute you for being willing to share your story and wish you and your son the best.

You should open a club of your own, pita. You could call it the Boom Boom Room.

Good stuff! One of my favourite things to do when working at hotels was to look at the list of names of guests that were, in my mind, funny.. like there was Emma Nag, Mr. Clinkingbeard and.. I swear, I'm not making this up.. Mr. Mycock

Love that from the Life of Bryan. I used to hum that at work sometimes and my coworkers didn't know what the heck I was doing.

Personally back hair is my enemy. Not that I have a fur rug back there like some guys but still it's noticeable. At least I'm not Robin Williams, that guy grows his own sweaters. :)

I hear ya. I used to worry a lot about people judging me, wondered what kinds of things they were thinking about me. Sometimes I still think that way, usually if I'm stressed out over something but I've also learned something valuable as time goes by: It doesn't matter what they think because most of them are idiots. Lol. ;)

You need to alter your paradigm and rebrand the product.. instead of thinking of it as "bollocks" think of it as proactively seeking out alternative realities... or something

Yeah, changed my profile pic.. but it didn't come out too well, I may have to try again. And.. not to start a debate in comments, 'cuz that's not my intention, but I'm actually not too worried about "kids today". :) The crime rate, including youth violence, has actually been going down not up. At least where I live. :)

Posted in Batman on 2008-04-03 03:46:04
Nope, can't say I saw that site.. I like Monty Python too and Fawlty Towers. Basil Fawlty has one of my favourite lines: A hotel would be so much easier to run without guests.

Never trust a lawyer, a politician or a salesperson. They all have the same job - to get you to buy into a story that isn't completely true.

According to what I read they had an organized plan. Someone would whack her with the weight, then someone would close the blinds, they'd tie her up (with tape I think) and then stab her.

Hmmmm, haven't had a shoplifter strip down.. I have had women try to hit on me in order to be allowed to do things they're not supposed to though, like get into the pool after hours or get into an event without paying, etc. Some of them were actually quite attractive but I haven't been suckered in yet. :)

Posted in Inner Peace on 2008-04-02 10:31:52
I'm more of a beer person but I echo your sentiments.

Posted in Various Assorted Jerks on 2008-04-02 10:29:40
Yeah, I try to restrain myself from saying what is going through my head. However, I have been accused of being too confrontational. The manager at one hotel fired me for that alleged reason, although I think it was more due to the fact that I reported him to the Fire Department for violating the Fire Code. Heh. :)

Yeah, I think I need a vacation, Wayne. Haven't had a real vacation in years. The funny thing is that I don't even really care about Batman that much, pita, my mind just comes up with weird Monty Python-esque stuff sometimes. Superman is alright. I like to watch the Smallville TV program sometimes.

I used to find drunks amusing at first but after you've had to deal with them for years you just find them annoying. And, nope, I came up with the hairytoad name myself. Lol. :)
