 Dating 101
Have you ever watched the show Pimp My Ride? It's a program where these body shop guys find someone who drives a real piece of crap car and they take this car and "pimp" it ( make it really fancy by adding lots of accesories and a cool paint job ). That's what I see young people trying to do with their dating relationships.

I have always been aware, but more so lately because of my own kids, that young people don't really look before they jump into a dating relationship.  I ask my own kids, when they're starting to get serious about a certain boyfriend or girlfriend, "Is this really the kind of person that you see yourself marrying?"

You need to date different people and the more open minded you are the better. I DIDN'T SAY SLEEP WITH, I SAID DATE! Try on different shoes to see what's the best fit for you. When you get into a serious relationship, date for awhile before you get married or get pregnant. Early in a relationship, our bodies release more endorphins which cause us to feel happier. ( It's true ) After time, it wears off and the truth is revealed. You're Prince Charming turns back into the frog.

Nobody goes into a marriage thinking, "This'll work for awhile, but if it doesn't, I'll just get a divorce." Dating is dating. It's not a committed relationship. It's a testing phase for you to see what kind of person you want to be committed to. It's the "test drive" phase. If you drive home in a Datsun you can spend your life trying to pimp it. You can add all of the fancy gizmos and gadgets and a really cool paint job, but in the end it's still a Datsun. It'll never be a Ferrari.

Good Luck, Greg.

I absolutely love the "pimp my ride" analogy... It makes so much sense. I also agree with what you said about people jumping into relationships and the edorphins and all that. But I have to disagree with one thing: I think A LOT of people actually do get married thinking that if it doesn't work they'll just get a divorce. It's unfortunate, but as years go by, people get dumber and make more and more stupid mistakes in dating. I don't think many people view dating as trying to find a potential spouse anymore.
Do what you can to save your children! lol
Take care :)

Thanks Chelle. I know it's true about the divorce.
Take care, Greg.
