 Domestic Violence, Why?
I have studied this subject for a long time.  And, after working in battered women shelters in the late 70's early 80's, I came up with this idea.  I have consulted with religious professionals, social workers, police, etc.  They think I may have valid point. Here it is.
The Bible states that Adam and Eve are the first people and fathered mankind.  It also states that Eve ate the perverbial APPLE and consequently we all lost paradise.  Now if that is true, then would it not stand to reason that this one fact could be at the bottom of men beating women. Men have a tendency to blame short commings on everyone but themselves.  If you have ever been to a any court session where a man is about to do time, they always invariably say, Your Honor I have a wife and kids, please consider...blah, blah, blah. He was not thinking about family when he got into trouble ... why would he bring it up at  his trial?
Now, if I had to get up every morning and look accross the table at the person who lost paradise for me ... I don't think it would be hard for me to hit them mentally or physically.  I do believe it is what people don't talk about because of the way society looks at institutionalized religion.  There is no way that a man can not have these feelings unless he has learned forgiveness and love. Women are the usual victims of rapists, serial killers, and domestic violence. And don't get it twisted, I don't think it is what a man thinks when he hits a woman, it is what he is feeling.  "Cause let's face it ... in domestic violence no one is actually thinking or it would not happen.

I think you have a valid point. Violent just because they feel like it.

interesting - I think you got it right about abusive people blaming others for their faults however three points come to mind.
1 It applies to men and women.
2 We live in a 'blame' society now - it's an industry in itself.
3. I don't think God or the bible stories have anything to do with it , possibly more like testosterone! Women also have some testosterone, some more than others.
As ST said maybe they do it just because they feel like it - and maybe only with people they know they can bully. I recall stopping a guy beating his lady outside a bar one night and for some reason despite the fact he was in a violent mood he didn't want to continue it against me??? He lost the power and control buzz very quickly. hope more responses come in.

Well I think it does come from the Bible because we all relate to it in some way. The Bible in telling the story places blame. You see I'm going for source of trouble and all religions seems to make people weak to something, they just don't make connection. No,he wouldn't bother you because most batterers do not hit women or men they have no relationship with. Everyone has testosterone but everyone does not abuse. Also , check the Bible, the first 5 books of Bible are the most gory, blood shedding , killing sprees I have ever read or witnessed.(Old Testament)
