 Sense and Sensibility

It's 1:09am here in the UK. Scrubs has just finished, I'm about to go have my bedtime smoke (my first one, anyway. I usually lie in bed for a bit then go for another death stick when I can't sleep)... and The Simple Life is on TV, starring Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie.

... A word of advice, to anybody out there that even slightly enjoys this program? Die. Now.

I'd also like to offer my opinion on the book I'm reading at the moment. You probably don't care much, but you should, because some day I'll be in charge of everything and everyone and I may just spare you if you can quote me on this. It's called Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen. The few blogs I have glanced at on this site seem to all be written by you folks across the pond, which leads me to believe this a primarily US member base, and therefore perhaps nobody will have heard of the book I mention. It's something of an English classic. Calling Jane Austen the female version of Dickens would be crude but hell I just went ahead and did it anyway. If you don't know who Dickens is then you're a bad person.

But ANYWAY here it is, just in case; Marianne Dashwood? Oh my jesus, she's a twentieth century emo kid! If she were alive in todays world she'd sure as hell have a stupid fringe and listen to Bullet For My Valentine. Also, Jane Austen is, undoubtedly, a very talented writer. Her being something of a classic author, my praise is hardly required. Until I rule the world, obviously, in such times as anything not deserving of my praise shall be erased from history. The Simple Life, along with anyone ever involved in it, shall be the first to go.

What I actually set out to say was; Sense and Sensibility; writing, beautiful. Content? Elinor is in love with Edward. Woops, he marries someone else. Marianne is in love with John. Woops! He's only gone and married someone else! Marianne locks herself in her room and cries. They go to the big manor house for a dinner party, have wonderfully written dull conversations with one another, then go back. Marianne cries some more because she's a fucking emo kid.

It's like Desperate Housewives: THE BOOK

Note: I haven't finished it yet.
