 The Other Side

She was on the other side now.  There was no returning.  She was forever changed.  The veils off, she had a new vision of reality yet she was  standing in exactly the same spot as before.  She hadn't gone anywhere.

At first, excited, she wanted to share her discovery.  She was ecstatic to let everyone in on the secret.  She couldn't contain her exuberance and would recount the whole episode to anyone who had the patience to listen;  anyone who was sympathetic to hear the incoherent  words tumbling from her mouth.

At first, she did not see their reactions.  At first she did not take in their astonished eyes, their tightened lips, their stepping back a couple of steps.  She was blinded by her joy, she was overcome with the knowing.

All too soon, she realized the depth of their fear.  All too soon, she understood what it would entail for others to see.  All too soon, she knew the magnitude of the problem.

The woman reached down to touch the flesh, of her own body. Her hand passed through as the incomprehensible murmuring continued. She looked up to see those around her looking at what she once was. Once was? Once was!

they are not ready.

What do they need to get ready? Time's awastin'!

The eyes of a visionary, the face reflecting the light of transcendent experience. She clutches a memory of it close to her but opens her mouth too soon. Pearls before swine, or solid food when they yet have no teeth? The Prophet's lot is often stoning.

'Solid food when they have no teeth.' Great line! Never have understood why the masses kill the ones that try to bring love, what's that all about? People prefer misery, violence and hate? Is that what insanity is? Just don't get it.

Can't take the credit -- I rephrased it from Paul.
People do not like to be slammed into change. They kill the messenger.

I think you've captured that sense of otherness, isolation and yet utter security and conviction brilliantly.

Oh I like that... 'sense of otherness, isolation and yet utter security' That's a wonderful way to express it. Thanks Perigo for the gift of words you have left me.

Sometimes those that fight our change the most our those closest to us. Our change shows that change is possible; necessitates some sort of accommodation to this change on their part, when they are not ready for change.

If we are changed enough, their reaction cannot deter us.

Oh so very true. Change brings challenge to change. How wonderful to 'see' you!
