This is a true story about a kitty named Woody. Woody is a shorthaired gray and white male . He is neutered and is (((stunningly handsome))).
I found him when he was a kitten in late summer 1999 but had to leave him at my moms house when I got married and came to Colorado. My mom loves cats too, so she was glad to keep him. Woody became my moms cat. He lived indoors and outdoors, and while he was not spoiled, mom loved him. Since my parents have an "empty nest", Woody kind of became their kid. Even my dad, who can have a real mean streak, was fond of Woody.
Back in January 2007 mom called me and she was in tears. Woody was missing. He had gone out that morning and hadnt come back and it was already dark and cold. Over the next several days, my parents went to the shelter and asked all the neighbors if they had seen him. They walked all around their neighborhood looking for him. Mom was broken hearted at the sudden disappearance of her cat. I was saddened by it too and I was sure Woody was dead : he always came home, he knew where he lived. It always bothered me that my parents would let Woody go outside, but I didnt blame them or accuse them because I know they were sad over losing him.
Life went on. I know mom thought about Woody often. At least twice she told me she thought she had seen him. She had seen a cat that looks like him in the garage, but it always got scared and ran off. I told her I didnt think it was Woody, why would he be scared in his own home?
Then, this past Tuesday mom calls me. She tells me Guess what Im doing. She sounded really happy. I said, I give up,what. (I thought she bought new furniture or something and was rearranging the house)
"Im feeding Woody"
"Woody?? Are your sure its him?"
"Its him. I checked him."
Woody has several physical characteristics unique to him: a tiny piece of one of his ears is missing, he has a scar on his nose, he is neutered. He has a spot of grey on his all white chin. Mom said the cat is definitely Woody.
We all thought he was dead! ANd now, after almost a year and a half, our beloved kitty is back. Where has he been all this time? Mom said he is thin and dirty and was very hungry. Were not sure what to think. Maybe some kids took him, maybe someone started feeding him during his outings around the neighborhood. If someone took him, they surely must of known he was somebodys pet. He was clean, well fed, neutered.
I told my mom that she should really start keeping Woody inside. Especially now that he's an older cat. ( 9 years old )
Im going home next month to visit and I cant wait to see sweet little Woody. Im going to try and convince my parents to KEEP HIM INSIDE. We've been given a second chance with our Woodrow.
this is Woody sometime in early 2000, he is sitting on my Moms kitchen counter. The picture isnt very clear, this was before I had a digital camera.
