"Extreme Makeover - Crack House Edition" was an excellent suggestion for a reality show. Maybe you you should send your idea to one of the networks.
Your description of the ghost hunting show was interesting too. I've seen some programs of that type. The investigators always find absolutely nothing after stringing the viewers along for two hours, but people want to believe, so they'll watch the same thing all over again the next time.

Maybe Americans do take all those disasters you mentioned in stride on 24, but they'll crack if things get REALLY tough.
