| Who's the daddy?? (And who's his daughter?? Lol)

First of all...apologies to my lady, who pointed out that in my first blog I said she was 'carrying my little girl' There are a whole 15 more days until we find out the sex of our baby. Sorry darling, hehe...you know it doesnt matter me if its a boy or girl.
What matters is...I'M GONNA BE A DADDY!!
So...if you had told me this time last year that I was on the brink of falling in love for the first time in my life, I'd have laughed. If you had told me that within 12 months I would be preparing to settle down with a baby on the way...a baby I MADE...well, there was just no way.
And yet here I am. I'm just beaming all the time. I'm a happy kinda guy anyway, but now its off the scale. My mates take the mick and I dont even care about that.
I am the original batchelor, 'he who could not be tamed' and she got me...I fell for her big time and there's no one else would do for me.
When I'm with her I'll admit I'm very protective, but I'd hope she doesnt think I'm smothering her. I felt an old fashioned need to keep her safe anyway, and especially now shes pregnant I have well and truly wrapped her up in cotton wool! Right or wrong...I can't help it!
When we're not together it drives me nuts, and in turn I drive her nuts, constantly asking if shes eating right, feeling well in herself...its so frustrating not being with her all the time now.
I lie awake at night trying to imagine what its gonna be like. There's no us me pretending I'm not scared, of course I am.
I'm 45 this year. I worry when baby is here that people will call me 'grandad', I worry that physically I'm not always gonna be up to it, I worry I'm not stable enough financially.
There's only one thing I'm sure of.
I'd move heaven and earth to keep them safe, looked after, happy and content.
We're gonna be happy for sure.

I'm glad you've started up here. :) I've enjoyed following Cheb's story, and now having the added benefit of the other side...I'm just pleased as punch. :)
Welcome, welcome.
And congratulations on being tamed, and becoming a dad. :)

Congratulations!! It's so nice to read a post filled with happiness and good news. I'm 55 (this year) so 45 sounds very young to me. Men much older than you become fathers. I have a feeling you will do just fine. Enjoy every second of this wonderful time in your life. Peace.

Hollis - I felt old on a University open day with Cheb! She was saying she felt old (all the other potential students looked about 18 or 19) and I pointed to a couple of people and said 'They're older than you' to which Cheb replied 'They're parents!'
Yikes....hehe
Ah well...cheb has promised to collect my pension for me, and give me ten quid a week to place my bets and fritter away in the bookies, so its not all bad...lol x Thanks for commenting xxx

wee_star - thank you. And tamed is right, though I have been waiting for a woman to do that for many a year! I knew it would take one very special lady!
Dad...wow...that word still knocks me off my feet...wow...

Colorado Dreaming - Yeah...most days the age thing doesnt worry me, but when I'm having an 'old fart' day, you know the days where you feel super-old, I fret a little. But I'm sure a kid about the place will keep me on my toes and keep me young!
Thank you xxx

Hey Dad! That does have a nice ring to it! Congratulations to you both again and listen, at 50, you're a spring chicken to me! Your post was lovely and heartfelt, what a lucky couple you are to have found each other.

Ellie - Thank you x When I turned 44, Cheb bought me two '4' birthday badges. My dearesyt mother said
'Haway david...both them badges together is your age, one of them is your mental age...!'
Dunno what she meant!! Haha x
I feel very lucky indeed and its my intention to let everyone know it! Bless you x
