 a thoroughly decent proposal! :-)
My past couple of blogs have been really down beat. And yes, those issues are still there, and still need my attention. But right now, what I need is diversion and happy times. Otherwise I will just sit and wallow and sink deeper.

So I took to heart the idea of actions speaking louder than words. I decided to do something, to lift me and Cheb, something that is much needed. I cannot control my physical state, but I can be in control of my emotional state.

So...as I have said, I am able to get up and walk around a little now. Its not painfull, just a little awkward really. I'm a big guy, crutches dont hold me up as they might someone with, shall we say, a smaller frame. But there's no reason for me to be stuck indoors, when the beach is just across the road. So I set a plan in motion. It started with a little search online, a chat with my mum in law, a trip by her to the shops, and all was in place.

The afternoon gave way to evening, and the sun started to set over the sea. Me and Cheb were watching TV, and I turned to her and asked her did she fancy accompanying an old man down to the sea front for a spot of leg stretching.

She turned to me, grinned and asked me was I sure I was ready. I nodded that yes, I was ready to cross a road and walk a few yards to the beach. So she got the baby ready and I took my first tentative steps out of the house, the first in quite some time!

Okay...so I didnt make it too far. I got across the road in one piece this time and walked a little further and then we stopped at a bench just up from the house over looking the beach.

So we've had another glorious day of sunshine up here today, and its given us another truly stunning sunset, the sea and sky met and hugged the setting sun in a flash of blue and orange.

I looked at Stan, who was grinning at me (he was in on it, you see!) and then at Heidi. Her hair was blowing in the breeze, the sun shining on her face making her eyes sparkle, and I let out one of those deep contented sighs.....

She looked at me and smiled, and I smiled back and she asked me was I okay.

I told her yes, and I meant it. I thanked her for her patience, and for her care and for making me feel happy and complete.

And then I told her I loved her and she told me she loved me too. I reached into my pocket, and I pulled out the little silver box, opened it up to her and said

"Will you marry me?"

She looked at the ring, at me, and then burst into tears, nodding and just saying "Yes, yes!"

I laughed and she laughed, which made Stan laugh, and we held each other there on that bench for a while before making the slow walk up to the house.

This is the ring

18 carrat white gold, worth every penny (lots of pennies!)

Yep, wasnt the most original of proposals, but I got the answer I needed and it was romantic as hell
