When I think about the Iraq war I cannot help but think about all the capitalist Corprotocracies who greatly enriched themselves at the direct expense of the United States citizen. The cost vs. benefit of the huge transfer of public dollars into private "for profit" hands illustrates the lack of a guiding moral compass as the United States of America stands to become a shell government who takes it's paychecks from the taxpayor and outsources it's responsibility.
It seems that privatization takes on a new meaning when massive amounts of money have been taken from the public treasury and given to such players as Halaburton et.al and nearly nothing to show for it other than record profits for them and massive generational debt to US citizens. Looking deeply I see a redistribution of public assets and wealth into private assets and wealth plus billions of public debt held by foreighners (he who has the gold makes the rules)..a transformation of sorts. The Halaburton corprotocracies don't even buy the assets it takes to complete their tasks..it is for the most part all farmed out. They are in large part high priced middlemen looking for their cut.
Simplified,it looks something like this. Halaburton wins "no bid contract" for lots of taxpayor dollars. The dispatch of manpower from the corprotocracy is a contingent assigned to find a subcontractor to do the work they were supposed to do with their"expertise". Surely they must have something special(White House friends in very high places?) with all that trust placed in them with out having to bid ....Right? Well, our first subcontractor is paid lots of money to do the job the corprotocracy was paid to do and rather than fool around with payroll and finding heavy machinery, dealing with unreliable help, number one sub decides to pocket his profit and find someone else to do the job. Enter number two subcontractor and so on until the money runs out with the sub who finaly does the work being paid slave wages and likely lacking in resources to do the job properly. You have heard about all the "construction projects" in Iraq which are embarrasingly shoddy and/or non-functional?
At this point I am feeling like I have a big stamp on my forehead. "US TAXPAYOR...EXPLOIT ME! Is it possible or even thinkable that the US government does not want peace?
The term "Global War on Terrorism" has a haunting nebulosity about it.
Fuzzy,non-descript, easy to interpret in many ways from many perspectives. So many ways in fact that we could go on with this forever. Bush has dogedly refused to do anything that could lead to peace. In fact he had the Iraqi people so upset with the US that our very presence became an irratant in part due to America bringing in a bunch of foreigners to do work Iraqi's wanted to do. Men desparatly needed work to feed their families. As the resentment toward the occupiers built the insurgency began to take shape. True many mistakes were made but obvious solutions were 1) NOT SEEN 2) IGNORED..... that is the question everyone should seek to answer.
Wait!! Cogs turn, wheels squeek...I feel a striking resembalance comming on! KATRINA
Halaburton et.al. corprotocracy gets no bid contract to begin cleanup and re construction. Corprotocracy sends out it's staff not to hire and get work done but to subcontract much of it out. Corprotocracy takes profit passes it on to next sub...if there is enough money, to another sub. De'ja'vue. Smells alot like the playbook for Iraq. The corporatocracies seem to smell taxpayor money faster than our government leaders look for peaceful solutions.
In Iraq at least the Iraqi's were on the slave labor end of the work stick.... In New Orleans, those who lived there were notoriously dependant on public aid while the second or third tier of subcontract work was being done mostly by illegal Mexican's brought in by the droves. Those Katrina victums desparatly seeking work were American and under minimum wage and workmans comp laws. Profits are higher when slave wages are paid. If someone gets hurt, the public will pay for the emergency room, the employer will not be paying workers comp.
Unfettered capitalism........I am so proud.
It is my hope that all of this is a bad dream and I will wake up to the America I once knew, not perfect for sure but never like this. It seems that those who lead do so without a moral compass. Our moral standing was once the envy of the world, again not perfect but worthy in many ways to be a beacon for other countries.
There is nothing like doom and gloom to bring out the most creative aspects of people. Hopelessness gives birth to hope and rebirth of new ideas and ideals. We are due in America for such a rebirthing.
Look for the 25% SOLUTION IN A BLOG NEAR YOU. Take up your pens, laptops and cell phones. Turn up your favorite music and march with your mind and your fingers to the tune of your passions. America is too good for this white house and all it's greed and "let them eat cake" indifference. We surely will overcome!! We are American!
