25% Solution
I am not any different than you therefore I know you can do this. What is THIS?  THIS ...is my effort to mobilize 25% of the American people, typically the small percentage who vote into action. ALL are welcome and my purpose is to encourage you to find a passion and follow it in order to put the original intention of our forefathers back into the hearts and minds of our politicians and our people as a Nation. For those who take up a passion it is my hope you will influence your children to do the same so our government never again stray as far from it's people as they appear to be now. My theory is that if 25% of the American people take up a political cause, research all aspects of it and become knowlegeable by being in regular contact with your Congressmen and State elected politicians, our country will once again look like a Republic. Our president does not even appear to know the difference between a democracy and a republic unless he is trying to inflict some other ideology on other countries. In high school I learned that the United States is a republic in which we elect politicians to do our will as the people. It is here that we the people have collectively shirked our duties as citizens. We have allowed the corporations of this and other countries to take over the agenda of this government and at present we have lost much of our ability to influence those we elect. We can change this..you can change this...your children can change this. How?

Find a subject you feel passionate about and learn all you can about the topic. Learn about how the opposition feels, establish facts to support the way you feel so you can hold your own and debut your topic with confidence against opposition. Next find out what political action is being taken on your topic and support it or oppose it vocally with your elected officials. Write fax and call them often. Give abundant praise or propose solutions of your own but communicate frequently.

Topics are endless but it would be most impactful if topics were politically relivant with legislation currently proposed. Popular topics might be Iraq war, use of diplomacy rather than threats of violence, Immigration issues, wasteful spending of tax dollars, presidential signing orders( president can ignore
Congress!!!), education issues with no child left behind (Ha!), Unfunded mandates passed down to states,
and there are many many others. It is YOUR passion, pick one, pick two....but pick at least one.

If 25% of the people did this on a regular basis our government would be forced to become responsive to the people again because our collective voices can outshout all the guys on K-Street on election day. Think about the population of the US and the ramification of billions of people in regular communication with their elected officials on a regular basis. That means phone calls letters and faxes. Get you older kids involved and encourage the teacher to allow an extra credit assignment for your childs efforts. Let the kids pick a passion. Perhaps education, poor kids in our country or other countries, helping children in Iraq by their letters to Congress. The opportunities are endless and what a gift it is for a parent to encourage and help their children in such a meaningful endeavor. Not to mention the lessons of victory and defeat which go with political involvement.

Your ideas and help in getting this word out to the masses would be appreciated.

One thing I've seen as a plus to this present administration, Geminga, and that's that it has exposed the flaws in our governments checks and balances guarantee, as well as how utterly broken our system of government has become under it's alter ego...capitalism.
